 DEFINICIÓN
La DM es un trastorno metabólico:

- hiperglucemia crónica
- trastornos del metabolismo
(C-G-P)
- Por anomalías en la secreción o
efecto de la insulina
 ETIOLOGÍA
Es multifactorial y depende del tipo DM
1. Diabetes mellitus tipo 1 (DM-1): por la
destrucción de las células beta (β) del
páncreas
2. Diabetes mellitus tipo 2: defecto de la
insulina o aumento en su resistencia (más
comun)
3. Diabetes mellitus gestacional:
hiperglucemia durante el embarazo
4. Otros tipos específicos de diabetes:

EPIDEMIOLOGÍA
Federación Internacional de Diabetes existirían
387 millones de personas con diabetes
- 40-49 años.
- Países con ingresos medio o bajos
- 2035 (+205 millones)
En el Perú según la Organización Mundial de la

salud de origen y posteriormente ser referido a la emergencia del
hospital nivel II/III correspondiente para manejo especializado.

de descompensación o complicación aguda que requiera atención inmediata debe ser derivado a un nivel de
mayor complejidad
