DIABETES MELLITUS

“Desorden metabólico de múltiples etiologías, caracterizado por

hiperglucemia crónica con disturbios en el metabolismo de
carbohidratos, grasas y proteínas, que resulta de defectos en la
secreción y/o en la acción de la insulina.”

Test de Tolerancia Oral a la Glucosa

Mantener una dieta con al • Toma de glucosa basal
menos 150g de CHO3 en la
dieta los 3 últimos días • Ingesta de 75g de glucosa anhidra en 250
a 300ml de agua en 5 min.

• Niños: 1.75g glucosa/kg

• Toma de glucosa dos horas luego de la

ingesta

Test de Tolerancia Oral a la Glucosa

• No debería realizarse en pacientes bajo estrés: post cirugía,
trauma, infección, IMA, etc
• Cirugía bariátrica
• Suspender 3 días antes: glucocorticoides, beta bloqueadores,
tiazídicos y diuréticos de asa, salicilatos
• Uso de metformina
• Cigarro y ejercicio

Hemoglobina glicosilada

La hemoglobina glicada o glicohemoglobina (HbA1c) es un término

genérico que se refiere a un grupo de sustancias que se forman a
partir de reacciones bioquímicas entre la hemoglobina A (HbA) y
algunos azúcares presentes en la circulación sanguínea
