Afecta al 6-7% de mujeres en edad reproductiva
Patología endocrina mas común en esta población.
Anovulación crónica e hiperandrogenismo.
Infertilidad, manifestaciones cutáneas, acné, hirsutismo,
caída del cabello.
Complicaciones asociadas: DM II, síndrome metabólico,
apnea del sueño, hígado graso no alcohólico y
enfermedades cardio-vasculares.

hidroxiprogesterona que es un precursor de androgenos

Hirsutismo severo, clitoromegalia, menstruaciónes
regulares, tendencia familiar y de corta estatura.
La condición se transmite por una herencia autosómica
recesiva; Una explicación para las menstruaciónes
regulares y baja estatura es desconocida.

SINDROME DE CUSHING
Excesiva producción de cortisol por una neoplasia
suprarrenal o de la excesiva produccion de hormona
adrenocorticotrópica (ACTH) por tumores de la hipófisis o
adenocarcino de pulmón.
Obesidad, hirsutismo, acné, irregularidades menstruales.
Estos sugieren el diagnóstico de SOP.
Facies de luna llena, joroba de búfalo, hipertensión, atrofia
muscular, estrías abdominales y la osteoporosis primaria
indica un problema de exceso de cortisol.
Aumento de la excreción urinaria libre de cortisol, la
pérdida de ritmo circadiano
