VALORACIÓN INICIAL
Al iniciar el semestre se realizó una valoración durante la primera sesión para determinar
el nivel de lengua de los estudiantes, teniendo como referente el Marco Común Europeo de
Referencia para las lenguas (MCER). Según la descripción del curso, los estudiantes debían tener
un nivel Pre-intermedio para formalizar el registro (A2), y al final del semestre su dominio del
idioma tenía que ser Intermedio (B2). Los resultados de la valoración mostraron que solamente
tres de los nueve estudiantes registrados poseían un nivel Pre-Intermedio, y que los seis restantes
se encontraban en Elemental (A1).
Teniendo en cuenta el dominio de lengua de los estudiantes, los contenidos del curso
fueron adaptados para cubrir la mayoría, si no la totalidad, de temas del nivel A2 y algunos de
B1. Para tal propósito, y enfocando las clases en dos propuestas didácticas para la enseñanza del
inglés como lo son el Project Based Language Teaching (Enseñanza de idiomas basada en
proyectos) y el Communicative Language Teaching (Método de enseñanza comunicativa), se
establecieron tres ejes temáticos base para el desarrollo de la temática. Cada eje abarcó cuatro
semanas de clase, con un total de tres exámenes parciales y diez tareas a lo largo del semestre. El
uso de la gramática, expresado aquí como Language Objectives (Objetivos del Lenguaje), fue
implementado a través de una serie de objetivos comunicativos (Communicative Objectives)
para cada semana, de los que los estudiantes cumplieron las expectativas.

Durante las últimas cuatro semanas de clase se estudiaron los temas Past Simple, Past
Continuous, Present Perfect y Possessives. Las actividades del último eje se centraron en
elementos de la cultura popular a través del mundo anglófono, como Dungeons and Dragons,
Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, Back to the Future, etc. En este periodo se realizaron tres
trabajos puntuales de la temática y un examen escrito, lo que corresponde al 40% restante de la
nota final del curso.

RESULTADOS
Al finalizar los contenidos del curso, y teniendo en cuenta las exigencias del examen
final, todos los estudiantes lograron demostrar un dominio Intermedio de la lengua (B1),
incluyendo a dos estudiantes que alcanzaron el nivel Intermedio Superior (B2). Durante la
sección oral del examen los estudiantes se desenvolvieron de manera competente al responder
una serie de preguntas a modo de entrevista, donde debían mantener la coherencia y cohesión de
sus ideas con respecto a una temática general.
A pesar de contar con sólo cuatro horas semanales, el desempeño de los estudiantes a lo
largo del semestre fue superior al esperado. Cabe resaltar que, debido a la necesidad de regresar a
las prácticas presenciales en el campus, algunos alumnos no pudieron asistir a todas las clases
contempladas en la planeación del curso. Aun así, y principalmente por su autonomía, ninguno
tuvo un rendimiento académico bajo y supieron responder a las expectativas de cada proyecto
semanal, lo que los llevó a adquirir el mismo nivel de lengua que aquellos que estuvieron en
todas las sesiones.
