COMBINING AND REARRANGING SENTENCES

COMBINING SENTENCES: COMBINANDO ORACIONES

You can combine two simple sentences with similar ideas into one longer sentence. /
Puedes combinar 2 oraciones simples con ideas similares en un una sola oración larga.

Join the sentences with a comma and a word such as: and, but, or, and so. / Une las
oraciones con una coma y la palabra and, but, or, o so.

La coma debe colocarse de la siguiente manera: (antes de la palabra)

Examples:
1. Tod asked a question. The teacher answered.
Tod asked a question, and the teacher answered.

2. Sally heard the phone ring. She answered it.

Sally hear the phone ring, so she answered it.

3. She went to school. It was closed.

4. We could eat ice cream. We could eat pizza.

We could eat ice cream, or we could eat pizza.

REARRANGING SENTENCES: REORDENANDO ORACIONES

You can rearrange words, or put them in a different order, to make a sentence more
interesting. / Puedes reordenar palabras, o ponerlas en orden diferente, para hacer una
oración más interesante.
Para esto debemos identificar el detalle extra en cada una de las oraciones.
Ejemplo: Nosotros estudiabamos
matemáticas en la escuela
We studied math at school.

Al identificar ambas partes de la oración podemos reordenarla cambiando su posición.

Ambas partes las separaremos con una coma.
