2. JUSTIFICACIÓN:
This course aims to guide students through the process of academic writing in English through the satisfactory
use of grammar and vocabulary suitable for an academic field to produce well-organized and clearly developed
paragraphs using the appropriate sentences and tenses, emphasizing in the fact that paragraphs are the core
of an adequate essay, a paper either research or academic paper and / or an educational program since
students as futures teachers may develop.

3. OBJETIVOS O COMPETENCIAS

The aim is to strengthen the ability of students to write papers making a satisfactory use of vocabulary,
grammar, sentence, and paragraph structures in the academic educational field:
• Differentiate academic writing from other types of writing.
• The use of TICs is performed through works developed in the platform COES, in the slides by Genial.ly
and the WhatsApp application during in and out sessions.
• Identify the elements of academic writing.
• Write well-structured paragraphs to make an essay, project or educational program.

guide students in the process of academic writing making use of numerous practices to help them to improve in the
writing of academic papers.

Additional activities will be given whenever students need it and will include group work, worksheets and additional
readings and short articles. Additional activities will reinforce contents but will not replace existing grades and can be
suggested by either the students or the teacher.

8. OBSERVACIONES:
Be punctual, do the assigned readings, do homework, and participate in class. According to the credit system you are
expected to carry out 4 hours of individual work. If you miss a class, it is your responsibility to catch up with class
work. If you miss an evaluation the grade will be zero unless you justify this absence within the time limit. No make-
up work will be given without a certified excuse.
