Diabetes Mellitus is a systemic illness that may cause many ocular and complex
disturbances at different levels such as: eyelids, anterior segment, optic nerve,

manifestations are understimated or not associated with Diabetes mellitus,

suspect Diabetic Retinopathy. This screening study was done emphasizing in
the clinical characteristics that may permit the clinical diagnosis, taking the
literature and the computing support as a base. This study was carried out from
September to November, 2006.
