Qué es la Ingeniería Genética?

La ingeniería genética es una disciplina

que combina la biología y la tecnología
para alterar y manipular los genes de los
organismos, ya sea añadiendo, eliminando
o modificando segmentos específicos de
ADN. Esta manipulación genética permite
obtener características deseadas o
introducir cambios en los organismos,
incluyendo plantas, animales y
microorganismos.

Son aquellos que se caracterizan ya que han sido
modificados genéticamente mediante técnicas de
ingeniería genética a partir de un organismo
modificado al que se le han incorporado genes de
otros organismos, incluso de especies no

características deseables en el organismo receptor. Se
les suele llamar también OGM, por sus siglas
“Organismo Genéticamente Modificado”.

potente que puede tener aplicaciones beneficiosas, pero
también plantea preguntas éticas importantes que deben ser
abordadas cuidadosamente para garantizar su uso responsable
y beneficioso para la sociedad y el medio ambiente.
