“LOS RETOS DE LA DIVERSIDAD EN EL AULA”

RESUMEN

De unos años a la actualidad, el término diversidad ha tomado gran relevancia en

el ámbito educativo, la mayoría de actores implicados hablan de ello, leen diversos
artículos, reseñas, asisten a talleres que abordan dicho tema, y/o diseñan
estrategias para atender a la diversidad de alumnos dentro de un plantel
educativo, pero la realidad es que no se conoce a fondo lo que ciertamente
significa entender y atender los retos de la diversidad en el aula, pese a ser un
tema central en la educación. Y es que tal tema ha causado grandes debates
entre los implicados en éste ámbito, pues los ideales de cada uno son
controversiales.

Ante los grandes retos a los que alumnos y maestros se enfrentan dentro del aula,
es necesario comprender los objetivos, condiciones y obstáculos a los que la gran
diversidad conlleva en el proceso educativo.

Hoy, más que nunca, es necesario adentrarse a la atención que representa la

diversidad en el ámbito educativo, pero no solo dentro del aula, sino ahora
también, fuera de ella, en cada núcleo familiar, y es que, al surgir la pandemia del
covid-19, emergieron mayores retos para atender a toda la diversidad de
alumnado, por lo que los docentes han tratado de adaptar sus prácticas a esta
nueva modalidad, propiciando en medida de sus posibilidades, la igualdad de
oportunidades y acceso a la educación, a pesar de existir gran diversidad de
alumnos, características cognitivas, sociales, económicas, familiares, etc.

Pero no se trata solamente de integrar contenidos en las actividades diseñadas,

sino de ir más allá, logrando que los alumnos se muestren activos y autónomos en
la creación de su propio aprendizaje, utilizando adecuadamente todas y cada una
de las características individuales que posee cada estudiante y la variedad de
elementos encontrados en su contexto, pues la diversidad a la que estábamos
habituados, hoy en día a dado un giro radical al trasladarse al hogar de cada

alumno, por lo que hoy es más que necesario el entender, atender y hacer frente a
los grandes retos de la diversidad en el ámbito educativo.

Sin duda alguna, actualmente, no es posible provocar actos de discriminación y

desigualdad, sino por el contrario, propiciar la inclusión de las características
individuales de cada alumnos y su contexto, yendo así por el camino correcto
rumbo a una educación igualitaria e inclusiva.

Probablemente suene como algo complejo, y es que realmente así es, la atención
a la diversidad en el aula (y ahora fuera de ella) es un tema polémico que no se
soluciona solo con el hecho de leer sobre él, sino actuando en la realidad,
escapando de las utopías en las que generalmente vivimos.

“THE CHALLENGES OF DIVERSITY IN THE CLASSROOM”

Summary

From a few years to the present, the term diversity has taken on great importance
in the educational field, most stakeholders talk about it, read various articles,
reviews, attend workshops that address this topic, and/or design strategies to
address the diversity of students within an educational campus, but the reality is
that it is not fully known what it certainly means to understand and address the
challenges of diversity in the classroom, despite being a central topic in education.
This topic has caused great debates among those involved in this area, as
everyone's ideals are controversial.

Given the great challenges that students and teachers face within the classroom, it
is necessary to understand the objectives, conditions and obstacles that great
diversity entails in the educational process.

Today, more than ever, it is necessary to draw attention to diversity in the

educational field, but not only within the classroom, but now also, outside of it, in
each family nucleus, and that is that, when the pandemic of covid-19 emerged,
greater challenges emerged to meet the whole diversity of students, so that
teachers have tried to adapt their practices to this new modality, promoting, to the
extent of their possibilities, equal opportunities and access to education, despite
the existence of a great diversity of students, cognitive, social, economic, family
characteristics, etc.

But it's not just about integrating content into designed activities, it's about going
further, making students active and autonomous in creating their own learning,
adequately using each and every one of the individual characteristics that each
student possesses and the variety of elements found in their context, because the
diversity that we were accustomed to, today has taken a radical turn when moving
to each student's home, so today it is more than necessary to understand, attend
and face the great challenges of diversity in the educational field.

Undoubtedly, at present, it is not possible to provoke acts of discrimination and
inequality, but on the contrary, to promote the inclusion of the individual
characteristics of each student and their context, thus going the right way to an
equal and inclusive education.

It probably sounds like something complex, and it really is, the attention to diversity
in the classroom (and now outside it) is a controversial topic that is not solved only
by reading about it, but by acting in reality, escaping the utopias in which we
usually live.
