The port of Shanghai, in China, remained the most active container port in the
world, having handled 43.3 million TEUs in 2019, thus completing 10 consecutive
years as the busiest in the world. The port overtook Singapore in 2010 as the

- Pasir Panjang Terminal 2: its depth is 16 meters and it has a length of 2,300
meters, in this terminal that has seven container docks and 28 cranes.
- Pasir Panjang Terminal 3: its dock is 3,000 meters, it has nine berths, the depth
is 16 meters, and it also has 34 cranes for handling goods.
- Pasir Panjang Terminal 5: its length of 1,850 meters, which is divided into five

The port is officially known as Ningbo-Zhoushan, and is located on the East China
Sea coast, in Zhejiang province, off Shanghai and Jiaxing.
Thanks to their combined resources, after the merger of the Ningbo and Zhousan
ports in 2006, they can now manage 17 million TEUs per year.
The port was already offering regular intermodal services to the interior of the
country, but it has recently launched new services, with its combined maritime-rail
transport lines offering 11 train services to 36 cities in China and reaching more

easily navigate the port with a tide. Ningbo port also offers many opportunities for
development and construction, as it has a deep-water coastline of more than 120
kilometers (74.6 miles). Behind the deep water shoreline is a wide flat port area,
suitable for storage and marine industries.
