Correa de transmisión auxiliar

Daño del motor

Precaución : Aunque en el caso de una falla de la correa de distribución, NORMALMENTE ocurrirá daño al motor, se debe realizar una verificación de
compresión de todos los cilindros antes de quitar la(s) culata(s).

Herramientas especiales

Barra de ajuste del árbol de levas - No.Mot.1496.

Herramienta de bloqueo de la rueda dentada del árbol de levas - No.Mot.1490-01.

Perno de distribución del cigüeñal - No.Mot.1489.

Herramienta para tapones ciegos del árbol de levas de escape - No.Mot.1488.

Llave para polea guía - No.Mot.1368.

Herramienta de tapón de obturación del árbol de levas de admisión - No.Mot.1487.

Precauciones especiales

Desconecte el cable de tierra de la batería.


NO gire el cigüeñal o el árbol de levas cuando quite la correa de distribución.
Retire las bujías para facilitar el giro del motor.
Gire el motor en la dirección normal de rotación (a menos que se indique lo contrario).
NO gire el motor a través del árbol de levas u otras ruedas dentadas.
Observe todos los pares de apriete.

Eliminación

Precaución :
En caso de avería de la correa de distribución, conviene comprobar que los lóbulos de las levas no se hayan movido o que el eje hueco no se haya
torcido.

Levante y apoye la parte delantera del vehículo.


Eliminar:
Tapa superior del motor.
Resonador de aire y tubo de entrada de aire.
Protección inferior del motor.
Rueda delantera derecha.
Revestimiento del paso de rueda delantero derecho.
Correa de transmisión auxiliar.

Precaución : La correa de transmisión auxiliar y la polea tensora DEBEN ser reemplazadas.

Motor de apoyo.
Desconectar:
Tuberia de combustible.
Tubo de vapor de combustible.
Marque la posición del soporte del motor derecho antes de retirarlo.
Eliminar:
Conjunto de montaje del motor derecho.
Cáncamo de elevación del motor izquierdo.
Blanking plugs from rear of camshafts.
Blanking plug from cylinder block 1 .
Turn crankshaft clockwise to setting position. Ensure grooves in camshafts aligned 2 .

Note: Grooves located below cylinder head upper face.

Insert crankshaft timing pin in cylinder block 3 . Tool No.Mot.1489.


Ensure crankshaft web against timing pin 4 .
Fit camshaft setting bar to rear of camshafts 5 . Tool No.Mot.1496.
Lock flywheel with large screwdriver. Slacken crankshaft pulley bolt 6 .
Remove:
Crankshaft pulley bolt 6 .
Crankshaft pulley 7 .
Timing belt upper cover 8 .
Timing belt lower cover 9 .
Slacken tensioner pulley nut 10 . Allow tensioner pulley to move away from belt.

Caution: DO NOT allow crankshaft sprocket to fall off crankshaft.

Remove:
Guide pulley bolt 12 . Use tool No.Mot.1368.
Guide pulley.
Timing belt.
Tensioner pulley nut 10 .
Tensioner pulley 11 .

Installation

Caution:
Timing belt, tensioner pulley, guide pulley and guide pulley bolt MUST be replaced.

Ensure crankshaft timing pin inserted 3 .


Ensure crankshaft web against timing pin 4 .
Ensure grooves in camshafts aligned 2 .
Ensure setting bar fitted correctly to rear of camshafts 5 .
Fit camshaft sprockets locking tool 13 . Tool No.Mot.1490-01.
Remove:
Nut of each camshaft sprocket 14 & 15 .
Camshaft sprockets locking tool 13 .
Camshaft sprockets 16 & 17 .

Caution:
Replace camshaft stud if loosened when removing nut. Failure to clean and degrease camshaft stud threads and end of camshaft may result in
severe engine damage 18 .

Degrease camshaft sprockets and end of camshafts.


Remove and degrease crankshaft sprocket. Degrease end of crankshaft. Refit crankshaft sprocket.

Caution: Failure to degrease components may lead to sprockets slipping on crankshaft and camshafts, resulting in severe engine damage.

Fit camshaft sprockets 16 & 17 .


Lightly tighten nut of each camshaft sprocket 14 & 15 . Use new nuts.
Ensure camshaft sprockets can turn freely without tilting.
Ensure Renault logo on camshaft sprockets positioned as shown 19 & 20 .
Fit new tensioner pulley 11 . Finger tighten nut 10 .

Caution:
Ensure lug on rear of tensioner pulley located in groove in water pump housing 21 .

Ensure crankshaft keyway at 12 o'clock position 22 .


Fit timing belt to camshaft sprockets. Ensure belt is taut between camshaft sprockets.
Fit camshaft sprockets locking tool 13 .
Fit timing belt to remaining sprockets and pulleys.

Caution: Crankshaft sprocket with integral key: Ensure belt is taut between exhaust camshaft sprocket and crankshaft sprocket.

Fit new guide pulley.


Fit new guide pulley bolt 12 . Tightening torque: 50 Nm. Use tool No.Mot.1368.
Turn tensioner pulley clockwise until movable pointer 23 aligned with notch 24 . Use 6 mm Allen key 25 .
Temporarily tighten tensioner pulley nut to 7 Nm 10 .
Fit timing belt lower cover 9 .
Fit new crankshaft pulley 7 .
Fit new crankshaft pulley bolt 6 .
Lock flywheel with large screwdriver. Tighten crankshaft pulley bolt 6 . Tightening torque: 40 Nm + 145±15°.
Tighten nut of each camshaft sprocket 14 & 15 . Tightening torque: 30 Nm + 84±4°.
Remove:
Timing belt lower cover access panel 26 .
Crankshaft timing pin 3 .
Camshaft setting bar 5 .
Camshaft sprockets locking tool 13 .
Turn crankshaft two turns clockwise to setting position.
Insert timing pin in cylinder block 3 .
Turn crankshaft slightly until crankshaft web stops against timing pin 4 .
Remove crankshaft timing pin 3 .
Ensure tensioner pointer aligned with notch 23 & 24 .
If not:
Slacken tensioner pulley nut 10 by a maximum of one turn whilst holding 6 mm Allen key 25 .
Turn tensioner pulley until pointer aligned with notch 23 & 24 . Use 6 mm Allen key 25 .
Tighten tensioner pulley nut 10 . Tightening torque: 27 Nm.
Insert crankshaft timing pin in cylinder block 3 .

Turn crankshaft slightly until crankshaft web stops against timing pin 4 .
Ensure grooves in camshafts aligned 2 .
Ensure camshaft setting bar can be fitted easily 5 . If not, repeat installation procedure.
Remove:
Camshaft setting bar 5 .
Crankshaft timing pin 3 .
Refit timing belt lower cover access panel 26 .
Fit new blanking plugs to rear of camshafts. Use tool Nos.Mot.1487 & 1488.
Refit blanking plug to cylinder block 1 . Tightening torque: 20 Nm.

Caution: DO NOT start engine without auxiliary drive belt fitted as damage may occur to crankshaft pulley.

Install components in reverse order of removal.
