1 General Information
1.1 Area of Application
The motors may be used in accordance with the protection type specified on the rating plate,
the model quoted by the manufacturer in the catalogue or the details given by the client.
When using special motors the details in the quotation and confirmation of order also apply.
1.2 Safety
The installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of these
motors may only be completed by qualified, suitable personnel
who have been trained to do so and have experience of this type of
work.
The motors are to be checked on receipt for transport damage. Any damage must be
reported immediately in writing.
Motors with cylindrical roller bearings are protected from bearing damage by a transport
guard. Before connecting the transmission elements or commissioning the motor, the
transport guard is to be removed.

2.2 Storage
The storage site should, if possible, by dry, clean, kept at a constant temperature and not
subject to shocks.
To protect the bearings and the lubricating system, the motor shaft has to be turned around
from some rotations from time to time.
The roller bearings in the motors should be greased or replaced if the period between placing
the motors in storage and commissioning them exceeds four years. In poor storage
conditions this period will be considerably reduced.
Before commissioning the motor, after it has been in storage or has not been used for a
lengthy period of time (longer than six months) the insulation resistance of the coil must be
measured. Check the coil using an insulation resistance measuring instrument (max. direct
voltage 500 V) against the earth.
If the minimum insulation resistance at a coil temperature of 25 °C is less than 30 MW or less
than 1 MW at a coil temperature of 75 °C, the motor coil must be dried until the required
minimum insulation resistance has been achieved.
The coil temperature must not be allowed to exceed 80 °C. To ensure that air exchange takes
place in enclosed motors, loosen the bearing plate. If you wish to dry the coil by connecting it
to low voltage, seek assistance from the supplier.
After drying the coil the bearings must be serviced (see relevant section).
3.1 Installation
3.1.1 Site
The motors should be installed where they allow easy access, at ambient and coolant
temperatures of max. 40°C (EN 60034). Higher coolant or ambient temperatures up to
max. 60 °C is possible, with an appropriate reduction in power, by agreement with the
manufacturer.
The cooling air must be able to flow to and from the motor without hindrance and must
not be drawn in again immediately after being fed out of the motor. The air intake and
out feed apertures and the ducts between the cooling ribs are to be kept free of dirt.
If the motor is installed with its shaft ends pointing upwards and downwards, it must be
ensured that no water can ingress into the top bearing.

3.4 Commissioning
4 Maintenance
Before completing any work on the motor, ensure that it has been
switched off and secured to prevent its being switched on again. In
addition to the main circuits, this also applies to any additional or
auxiliary circuits, particularly standstill heating systems.
4.1 Servicing
Depending on the amount of dirt they generate the motors are to be cleaned on a regular
basis over their entire areas, for example using compressed air.
The first service is generally necessary after approx. 500 operating hours, but at the latest
after one year. Subsequent servicing is to be carried out at suitable intervals, for example
relubricating or grease replacement intervals, but at least once per year.

4.2 Bearings
4.2.1 Bearings with permanent lubrication
The bearings for motors with permanent lubrication generally require no maintenance
in normal operating conditions for between 10.000 and 20.000 operating hours, but at
most for three years.
On motors which have two cover plates acting as bearing seals (2Z bearings) and a
speed of up to 3600 rpm, the bearings should be replaced at 20.000 operating hours,
but at the latest after three years.
On motors which have one cover plate (Z bearings) or a bearing cover seal acting as
the bearing seal, the grease and, if necessary, the bearing should be replaced
-after 20.000 operating hours if the motor is used at speeds of up to 1800 rpm,
-after 10.000 operating hours if the motor is used at speeds of up to 3600 rpm, but at
the latest after three years.

5.1 General
The installed single-disc spring-loaded brake is a safety brake which is engaged by the force
of the spring in the event of a voltage failure. The brake is ventilated by an electromagnet.
5.3 Maintenance
The installed brakes require no maintenance apart from the readjustment of the air gap "x"
(see figure 1). If the maximum of air gap “xmax." (around 0,5 - 1,3 mm depending on the brake
size) is exceeded, the tripping time of the brake will be increased drastically or the brake will
not ventilate if the voltage conditions are not perfect. The necessary air gap "x" can be reset
by undoing the cheese-head screws and turning the resetting sleeves anti-clockwise.

2.0 Maintenance
After 300 services hours the oil has to be changed. The oil can be drained by removing both,
the drain plug and the vent screw. The gearbox (including the bearings and gears) should be
cleansed with a good quality cleansing oil; only then gearbox oil should be filled in. After
further 10.000 service hours, the gearbox housing and also all gear parts, should be
thoroughly cleaned and also the oil changed.
Attention: Before starting up the plastic cover over the vent screw must be removed.

3.0 Transport
The driven cable reeling drum is as-
sembled on a transport device. A dis-
assembly of the driven cable reeling
drum of the transport device for
transport-technical reasons, like e.g.
shortage of space on the lorry, is not
permissible. For incurred damage in
transit Hartmann & König takes over no
complaints. Use the anchoring sup-
ports for round sling (see sketch) for
moving the drum to the intended loca-
tion with lifting tools e.g. assemble
crane. Be care of the weight (see de-
livery order).
The attachment takes place via screwing to laterally arranged hexagonal screws and / or
onto the optionally available attaching fixing elbows. During execution with flabby line rock-
er, with which the line over guide rollers operates the rocker, it is to be made certain, that
when over driving the feeding point of the proximity switch (9) it must be without function.
Since otherwise in this range a stop takes place. The pull springs (12) serves the line rocker
(5) as resetting. By this line rocker (5) the proximity switch position (9) in the case of a ra-
tionalisation of the line is operated.
5.0 Maintenance
The ball bearings are well greased at the factory. Regressing or replacing the bearings is
necessary after long time intervals depending on the surroundings and the operation fre-
quency.

of a divided Drum Body
Drum bodies of this design are divided in the centre. That means that the drum body consists of
two halves, which have to be locally joined together. The installation position is given through the
sketch below.
At each drum body halves, two latches (detail A) are pre-mounted with two hexagonal screws each
M20 x 25 mm. Now the both drum body halves are joint together and the two round plate halves
screwed together with the latches and four M20 x 25 mm hexagon screws.
Subsequently, the Latches (detail D and E) of the two drum body halves are mounted with hexag-
onal screws M12 x 25 mm.
After the assembly of the two drum body halves the complete drum
body is pushed onto the drum flange, which is installed on the gear
box of the cable reeling drum, and screwed on with the needed
hexagonal screws to the drum flange.

1 General information
1.1 Information about these instructions
The instructions will enable the safe and efficient use of the motorised cable reel. These in-
structions are part of the system and must be kept accessible to the staff in the immediate
vicinity of the system at all times. In addition, local accident prevention regulations and gen-
eral safety provisions must be followed when using the system.
1.2 Copyright
The contents of these instructions are protected by copyright (DIN ISO 16016). Their use is
allowed in the context of the use of the system. Any other use is not permitted without the
written permission of the manufacturer.
1.3 Warranty
Our liability for defects shall expire, should interventions or repairs of Hartmann & König
products be made by third parties without our permission during the warranty period.
2 Safety
This section gives an overview of all important safety aspects with regard to avoiding bodily
harm and ensuring a safe and fault-free operation. Other task-specific safety notes are includ-
ed in sections related to specific lifecycles.
Hazard warning
Qualified personnel
Qualified personnel, due to their professional training, knowledge and experience, as well as
their knowledge of the relevant standards and regulations, are in a position to carry out the
tasks they are assigned and to identify and avoid potential hazards on their own.
The integrator must include the motorised cable reel in a suitable emergency stop circuit. In
general, the movement of the motorised cable reel is positively driven mechanically by the
higher-level machine so that the shut-down of the motorised cable reel's drive motor alone
does NOT necessarily result in the standstill of the motorised cable reel. This means that, in
order to ensure the safe shut-down of the motorised cable reel, the higher-level machine in
its entirety must be safely shut down.

5 Transport
The motorised cable reel is installed on a dedicated transport
trestle. It is not permissible to remove the motorised cable
reel from the trestle for transportation, e.g. in order to de-
crease its footprint on the lorry. In such cases, Hartmann &
König will not accept any claims for any transport damage.
Use the transportation points for round loops (see drawing)
for moving the line reel to its designated position using hoist-
ing tools such as an assembly crane. Observe the weight if
applicable. Use only one side of the reel body for round
loops to avoid pressing the two sides of the reel body to-
gether.
6 Installation
6.1 Safety notes for installation
Shut down the system
Secure the system against unintentional restart
Switch the electrical power supply off and secure it against uninten-
tional restart.
· After connecting all the lines, perform a visual check to ensure that the rotating move-
ment causes no damage to the lines.
· Have suitable qualified personnel perform electro-technical checks according to appli-
cable statutory regulations and approved technical rules.
· Close doors and cover on the reel housing.
· Reassemble radius arm segments (18).
Figure 3
Figure 4
· Disconnect the rotary joint of the fibre optic cable from the slip ring body.
· Disconnect the fibre optic cables.
· Loosen the screw connection at the rotary joint of the fibre optic cable. Then temporarily
fix the fibre optic cable elements inside the slip ring body housing in order to avoid
damaging them when rotating the reel.
· Remove the motor from the gear. CAUTION: There will be no brake torque from the
motor, which fixes the reel body. The reel body is only secured against unintentional ro-
tation by the fixation of the reel body. Choose a fixation with suitable dimensions. Be
aware of the risk that the fixation may be sheared off by the rotating reel body.
· Slightly loosen the fixation at the reel body so that the reel body can be rotated manual-
ly. Caution: Observe the weight and inertia of the reel body (including the line).
· Slowly rotate the reel body by hand in order to unwind the line including the spare wind-
ings. One additional person needs to monitor the unwinding process and be able to ac-
tivate the fixation for preventing the uncontrolled unwinding of the reel body in an emer-
gency.
· Secure the reel body again against unintentional rotation.
· Disconnect the line from the brush holders or slip rings.
· Loosen the temporarily fixed fibre optic cable elements.
· Loosen the screw connection on the reel body side. The line can now carefully be
pulled out in the direction of the reel body side through the gear shaft.
· Loosen the strain relief clip and carefully take the line out of the reel body. Caution:
Depending on the installation height of the reel body, the line must be secured against
uncontrolled falling. The hazard zone must be clear of all people: Risk of accident!
Please note: Damaged set screws must be replaced with new screws of the same
strength class and type.
Cable lugs acc. to DIN 46220 are used for connecting the supply line to the brush holders.
The applied tightening torques are also according to DIN 46220.
6.8 Heater
The heater prevents any build-up of condensate in the interior of the slip ring space.
Control system:
The heaters are equipped with an integrated thermostat. It
switches the heater on at <= +35 °C and off at T >= +65 °C
(inherent device temperature). The low surface temperature
eliminates the need for contact protection.
Electrical connection:
Always follow the specifications on the rating plate (output,
voltage).
The heater should be supplied with its own fuse. Connect it according to the circuit diagram
(above) using a suitable supply line.
The purpose of the heater is to avoid condensation. Therefore, keep it switched on at all
times (see also data sheet D-000007).
7 Commissioning / recommissioning
7.1 Safety notes on commissioning / recommissioning
Improper operation can result in serious injury or property damage.
7.3 Decommissioning
· Caution: hot surfaces
· Secure the reel against unintended rotation.
7.4 Commissioning
· Switch the motor on briefly (touch control mode) to check whether torque is created and
whether the direction of rotation / pull-down direction on the reel body is correct.
· Switch the motor on permanently and check the coupling for running noise and vibration.
· If no faults are found, the entire reel can be checked for correct functioning.

3.0 Transport
The driven cable reeling drum is as-
sembled on a transport device. A dis-
assembly of the driven cable reeling
drum of the transport device for
transport-technical reasons, like e.g.
shortage of space on the lorry, is not
permissible. For incurred damage in
transit Hartmann & König takes over no
complaints. Use the anchoring sup-
ports for round sling (see sketch) for
moving the drum to the intended loca-
tion with lifting tools e.g. assemble
crane. Be care of the weight (see de-
livery order).
The attachment takes place via screwing to laterally arranged hexagonal screws and / or
onto the optionally available attaching fixing elbows. During execution with flabby line rock-
er, with which the line over guide rollers operates the rocker, it is to be made certain, that
when over driving the feeding point of the proximity switch (9) it must be without function.
Since otherwise in this range a stop takes place. The pull springs (12) serves the line rocker
(5) as resetting. By this line rocker (5) the proximity switch position (9) in the case of a ra-

two halves, which have to be locally joined together.

2 Sicherheit

bewerkzeugen z. B. Montagekran an den vorgesehenen
Platz. Bitte das Gewicht ggf. beachten. Für die Rundschlin-
gen nur eine Seite des Trommelkörpers benutzen. Bei nicht-
beachten werden sonst die beiden Trommelkörperseiten ge-
geneinander gedrückt.
6 Montage
6.1 Sicherheitshinweise zur Montage
Anlage Stillsetzen
Anlage gegen unbeabsichtigten Anlauf sichern
Anlage gegen unbeabsichtigtes Wiedereinschalten sichern.
6.3.1 Wickelkeil
· Trommel gegen unbeabsichtigtes drehen sichern
7.4 Inbetriebnahme

stromkreise, insbesondere Stillstandheizungen achten.
4.1 Inspektion

Hartmann & König be-
stimmt.
on versetzt.
5 Transport
der Transport erfolgt liegend gemäß nebenstehender
Skizze.
6 Montage
6.1 Sicherheitshinweise zur Montage
- Anlage Stillsetzen
- Anlage gegen unbeabsichtigten Anlauf sichern
Hartmann & König be-

Montageanleitung A 00 004

schild (Leistung, Spannung).
