INTRODUCTION
Past Simple Tense
El pasado simple se utiliza para referirse a acciones que se completaron en un período de tiempo
anterior al presente. En el pasado simple, el proceso de realizar la acción no es importante. Lo
que importa es que la acción se completó en el pasado. La acción pudo haber sido en el pasado
reciente o hace mucho tiempo.

Entonces, comencemos a aprender el Pasado Simple, uno de los tiempos más comunes al hablar
en inglés, aquí te presentamos algunos puntos que debes prestar mucha atención.

USO DEL SIMPLE PAST

El pasado simple se usa para acciones que comenzaron y terminaron en un momento específico
en el pasado. También es posible utizar el pasado simple en una oración sin especificar un
tiempo, pero debe haber quedado claro previamente que el hablante se refiere a un período
terminado.
Example:
 I saw a movie last week.

El pasado simple se usa para describir varias acciones que se completaron en el pasado.
Example:
 I finished work, walked to the beach and met my friends.

El pasado simple se usa para describir un proceso que comenzó y terminó en el pasado. En este
caso, el proceso de la acción es largo y se utiliza al especificar períodos de tiempo como "todo el
año" o "todo el día".
Example:
 I lived in Italy for five years.

El pasado simple también se puede usar en oraciones que describen hábitos pasados. Estas
oraciones tienen el mismo propósito que la expresión "solía". Debe quedar claro en este tipo de
oraciones que la acción mencionada es un hábito. Las expresiones de tiempo como siempre, a
menudo, generalmente y nunca se pueden usar para subrayar esto.
Example:
 I often played football when I was a young man.

Oraciones afirmativas en pasado simple
En oraciones afirmativas, el orden de las palabras es sujeto + verbo y la forma del verbo en
pasado simple es la misma para todos los sujetos (with the exception of ‘to be’ – was/were).

Subject + past simple + object

Examples:
 I played football yesterday.
 He saw his family last week.
 I was in France in June.

Oraciones negativas en el pasado simple

Para hacer oraciones negativas en el pasado simple, utilizamos el auxiliar ‘did not’ / ‘didn’t’ y la
forma base del verbo.

Subject + did not + base form of verb + object

Examples:
 I didn’t play football yesterday.
 They didn’t go to the theater last month.
 She didn’t arrive on time this morning.

Preguntas en pasado simple

Para hacer preguntas en el pasado simple usamos ‘did’ delante del sujeto y la forma básica del
verbo.

Did + subject + base form of verb + object?

Examples:
 Did you play football yesterday?
 Did they lose the match?
 Did he clean his home last weekend?
