Desarrollo:
Today we will learn about (Hoy aprenderemos sobre): The present continuous tense (El tiempo
Presente Continuo).
Use the “Present Continuous Tense” to talk about actions that happen at the moment of speaking.
One must add “ing” to the principal verb (Se utiliza el Tiempo Presente Continuo para hablar sobre
actividades que se suceden al momento de hablar). Para ello se le agrega “ing” (ando – iendo) al
verbo principal.

Estructura: Affirmative form (Forma afirmativa)

Long form Contraction form: Se utiliza el

Rules to add “ing” (Reglas para agregar “ing”)

1. A la mayoría de los verbos se les agrega directamente “ ing”.

Examples: Study - Studying (Estudiar – estudiando)
Work - Working (Trabajar – trabajando)
2. A los verbos que terminan en e se les elimina la e y luego se agrega “ ing”.
Examples: Write - Writing (Escribir – escribiendo)
Drive - Driving (Conducir – conduciendo)
3. A los verbos que constan de una sola silaba y terminan en consonante antecedida de una
sola vocal se les duplica la consonante y luego se agrega “ ing”.
Examples: Run - Running (Correr – corriendo)
Swim - Swimming (Nadar- nadando)
