Dear Parents and Guardians February 22, 2023

This letter is being sent home with your students accompanied by a newsletter containing

information about the recent changes in our technology policy. The Bring Your Own Device

(BYOD) program at school allows students to bring their tech devices, such as laptops, cell

phones, tablets, etc., to school to be used in conjunction with educational activities. Being a

“Super Digital Citizen” is imperative to student education and growth, therefore this infographic

contains information surrounding Online Hate Speech and the consequences students can face if

caught participating in it. Our school has a No-Tolerance Policy, hate speech and online hate

speech fall underneath this category and is unacceptable. As a digital citizen, students are

expected to uphold the school’s motto: Honesty, Integrity, and Kindness, in an online setting. If

students should report any discriminatory behavior to a trusted teacher and/or staff/faculty

member. Students who report such findings will remain anonymous to avoid any form of

retaliation as this is unacceptable behavior as well. Thank you for your collaborative effort with

our teachers as we work as a team to educate our students and keep them safe on their online

platforms!

Esta carta se envía a casa con sus estudiantes acompañada de un boletín informativo

que contiene información sobre los cambios recientes en nuestra política de tecnología. El

programa Traiga su propio dispositivo (BYOD) en la escuela permite a los estudiantes traer sus

dispositivos tecnológicos, como computadoras portátiles, teléfonos celulares, tabletas, etc., a la

escuela para usarlos en actividades educativas. Ser un "Superciudadano digital" es imperativo

para la educación y el crecimiento de los estudiantes, por lo tanto, esta infografía contiene

información sobre el discurso de odio en línea y las consecuencias que los estudiantes pueden

enfrentar si se les descubre participando en él. Nuestra escuela tiene una política de tolerancia

cero, la incitación al odio y la incitación al odio en línea se incluyen en esta categoría y son

inaceptables. Como ciudadano digital, se espera que los estudiantes respeten el lema de la

escuela: Honestidad, integridad y amabilidad, en un entorno en línea. Si los estudiantes ven

algún comportamiento discriminatorio, deben informarlo a un maestro de confianza y/o miembro

del personal/facultad. Los estudiantes que informen tales hallazgos permanecerán en el

anonimato para evitar cualquier forma de represalia, ya que también es un comportamiento

en equipo para educar a nuestros estudiantes y mantenerlos seguros en sus plataformas en línea!
