What are you your favorite objects? What are those things that you couldn’t live
without?

Describing my possessions
When we want to describe what we own, or our possessions we must use “have to”.
Look at these examples:
BUT, when we want to describe the possessions of a third person we use “has to”
• My mom HAS two cats.
• Orlando HAS a black car.

HE Has A new tablet.
SHE Has A purple backpack.
IT Has A purple ball.
WE Have Headphones.
YOU Have An old cellphone.
THEY Have One rabbit.
Structure:
Subject + has / have + object
Attention!
We don’t use “have
to” for age.
I have 27 years old
(INCORRECT)
It’s time we learn another way to describe possession where we focus on the
owner of the object. This is called the “possessive ‘s”
We use it to talk about possessions or family and relationships.
• That is Fabio’s ball.
• This is Silvia’s cellphone.
• Marisol is Elena’s sister.
These are real life example of the possessive “’s”
It shows that the Brand
belongs to “Hershey’s”
Some rules:
• We use ‘s with singular nouns.
o The dog’s bed is in the kitchen.
• With singular nouns that end in -s or people’s names that end in -s, we add
‘s.
o Where is Douglas’s tablet?
• When we talk about objects that belong to two or more people, we use ‘s
after the last person.
o This is Jorge and Carla’s ball.
