George Tannenbaum's Bio:
I am a grown-up. As such I can talk about business issues with CEOs and CMOs. I
can translate their issues into work that's both empathic and motivating. In any
medium. I have worked for a long-list of Fortune 500 clients including IBM, HP,
Citibank, JP Morgan Chase, The Bank of New York, American Express, Mercedes-
Benz, General Motors, General Foods, AT&T, Verizon, Ameriprise Financial,
Federal Express, Gillette and others. The work I create works on two levels. It
works to build brands. And it works to drive sales. It changes minds and it
changes behaviors. It tugs at hearts and influences brains. Accordingly, my work
has won awards and recognition in four different media for both creativity and
effectiveness.

Answer the questions

1. For you, what is the most important aspects when you are looking for a job?
2. Where do you read a job advertisements?
3. What is a job advertisements?
4. What is a brochure and what kinds of brochure do you know?

AN ADVERTISEMENT is a picture, short film, song, etc. That tries to persuade people to buy a product
or service, or a piece of text that tells people about a job, etc.

Read and look for the vocabulary with definition in English and give examples in the
following job advertisements

For example:

Definition of Job

A group of homogeneous tasks related by similarity of functions.

When performed by an employee in an exchange for pay, a job consists of duties, responsibilities, and
tasks (performance elements) that are (1) defined and specific, and (2) can be accomplished, quantified,
measured, and rated. From a wider perspective, a job is synonymous with a role and includes the
physical and social aspects of a work environment. Often, individuals identify themselves with their job or
role (foreman, supervisor, engineer, etc.) and derive motivation from its uniqueness or usefulness.

Fraser Island is one of the world's most unusual islands. Not only is it the largest sand island in the world
– 123 kilometers (76 miles) long and 22 kilometers (14 miles) wide – but it's the only place on Earth
where tall rainforests grow on sand dunes at elevations of more than 200 meters (656 feet). It also has
half the world's perched lakes – lakes formed when depressions in dunes fill permanently with rainwater.

Attractions - here are many different aspects to Fraser Island, but the awe-inspiring beauty of Lake
McKenzie makes it probably the most visited natural site on the island. It is a ‘perched’ lake, which
means it contains only rainwater, no groundwater, is not fed by streams and does not flow to the ocean.
The sand and organic matter at the base of the lake form an impervious layer, preventing rainwater from
draining away.

The sand here is pure, white silica and is not only beautiful to look at but feels beautifully soft to walk on.
The sand acts as a filter, giving the water its clarity and helping to make the water so pure it can support
very little life. The blues and greens of the lake are endlessly fascinating and it's well worth getting up
early to look across it in the soft light of dawn.

There are great hikers camping facilities here and toilets and cold showers nearby.

Paris is by far the largest city in France. It is not only the political, cultural, and intellectual capital of
France. Parisians set the tone for the rest of the countrymen and their views, culture and preferences
also have worldwide influence. It is the most visited city in the world. People travel to Paris from around

the world to explore the city’s pretty streets, major museums, fabulous eateries and many cultural and
historic sites.
Travelers can take an elevator to the top of the Eiffel Tower, walk up the steps of the Sacre Coeur or
even tour the city’s sewers. Other historic sites of note include the Cathedral of Notre Dame and the 12th
century Saint Chappelle filled with huge stained glass windows. Paris is home to two major parks: the
Bois du Boulogne and Bois de Vincennes. Each lies on the edge of the city and offers visitors a pleasant
escape from concrete streets.

Situated at the crossroads of Europe and in close range of the English Channel and other strategic
places for military and trade, Paris is a true powerhouse in continental Europe.

The city was the first Spanish colony on the American continent and one of the first sanctuaries of freed
African slaves in the Americas. It is currently populated by an ethnic mix representative of Colombia's own
variety.
Cartagena, located on Colombia's northern coast and facing the Caribbean Sea, is the most visited city in the
country by tourists. It gets extremely crowded in the December holidays and the holy week, when schools are
out and most Colombians take their vacations. The city has basically two main parts where tourists go: the
walled colonial city ("ciudad amurallada"), which is truly amazing and has many fancy restaurants, clubs and
hotels; and a long strip of hotel towers and condos fronting onto the beach, known as Boca Grande. It is also
nice to visit the exclusive neighborhood of Castillo Grande, filled with recently built condos, places to jog, and
a quiet beach to soak up some sun.

A MIND MAP

A mind map is a diagram for representing tasks, words, concepts, or items linked to and arranged around
a central concept or subject using a non-linear graphical layout that allows the user to build an intuitive
framework around a central concept.
A mind map can turn a long list of monotonous information into a colorful, memorable and highly
organized diagram that works in line with your brain's natural way of doing things.

A mind map can be used as a simplified content management system (CMS). It allows you to store all
your data in a centralized location to stay organized. With the various mind mapping software programs
out today, you can attach files to different branches for even more flexibility.

Let´s do the shopping

Role play: some students are clients and other dependents

Create the poster in small group according with the technical programme.
Put on different point of the class that will locate the shops. The students must talk for a short time.

Topics: mechanical tools, new software for computing or accounting, new technology, children’s
education books, designs in actual production in the cloth, vehicles, and motorcycles, games,
entertainment, etc.

Read a newspaper in English.

Select a newspaper, then look for the section that interests you. Select an article about a topic which you
are known.
It will be easier to understand the context in which it takes place.
Read the article first, quickly, to find out what it is in general terms. Then, read it a second time, stopping
you in the English words that you don't know. Uses a dictionary English - Spanish (or English - English)
to know that mean.
Finally, read the article again to fully understand it. This technique will be useful to enrich your vocabulary
with new words and phrases in English, review English grammar, and incidentally, learn a bit more about
the subject matter.

The entire group must be a newscast with its different sections, for that, in groups are
assigned a section so that they prepare several news that must be present in front of
the class.

Let´s sing: karaoke

Select songs according to their interests

Play the song, at least 2 times from beginning to end.

Ask students to talk about what they heard:

a- What images did they get from the song?

b- Did any of the words sound familiar or similar to other Spanish words they know?

Learning English with TV series

Select a scene of a TV series according to their interests

Analyze extracts of scripts for television series to understand the use of authentic everyday English.
Read fragments and tries to understand them.

If possible, disable the subtitles in Spanish. If you can´t understand the dialog, activate the "CC" (Closed
Caption) option on your TV to see subtitles in English.

It tries to look at chapters of series you've ever seen. Since you already know what happens in the plot,
you can concentrate more on the vocabulary and expressions used in the talks.

Repeats the phrases you hear and if you don't understand something, use a dictionary.

Pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation. In this way, train the ear to identify words and different
accents, which certainly will help you improve your understanding of English.

Finally, again to read the text

For example: the TV series Modern Family:

From the episode 'Run for your wife'

CLAIRE: The thing is, I kind of like to run alone. Besides, I run pretty
fast.
PHIL: So?
CLAIRE: Err... I'm just not sure you'll be able to keep up...
PHIL: You're kidding, right?
CLAIRE: No.
PHIL: Do you think I won't be able to keep up with you?
CLAIRE: You barely seem able to keep up with this conversation.
