La evaluación en Motricidad Orofacial tiene como objetivo valorar, neuroanatómica y fisiológicamente el

sistema estomatognático, examinando las estructuras pasivas y activas de manera aislada y en sinergia
durante la realización de sus funciones, para posteriormente, efectuar un análisis integral y determinar
parámetros que estimen su adecuación, haciendo uso para ello, de diversas estrategias, procedimientos
e instrumentos. En este sentido es indispensable contar con un instrumento que recoja información neuro-
anatómica y fisiológica de las regiones orofacial y cervical, que permita diagnosticar y clasificar sus posi-
bles alteraciones, de cara a efectuar una adecuada prevención, habilitación y/o rehabilitación. Por ello el
presente trabajo describe una herramienta denominado “Protocolo de evaluación en Motricidad Orofacial”;
el cual examina de manera integral los diferentes aspectos involucrados en la Motricidad Orofacial, tales
como pares craneales, aspectos raciales, tipología facial, medidas antropométricas orofaciales, estructuras
orofaciales y funciones estomatognáticas, el mismo que está siendo ensayado en el Centro Terapéutico
Peruano Japonés de la ciudad de Lima – Perú, habiéndose evaluado 350 pacientes entre las edades de 09
meses y 80 años, los cuales solicitaron la evaluación o fueron derivados por las áreas de lenguaje, psicolo-
gía, fisioterapia, neurología y otorrinolaringología, por motivos referentes a dificultad en la fonoarticulación,
alimentación y/o respiración.

A orofacial motor evaluation look for the neuroanatomy and physiological evaluation of the stomatognathic
system and that study in a isolate way of the functions passives and active structures in a situation of
synergic and after that to carry out a integral analysis and to establish parameters to evaluate and adapt it.
We are going to use a wide range of strategies, procedures and tools. To achieve that is crucial to have a
tool capable to get all the neuroanatomy and physiological information of the orofacial and cervical regions
and that can allow us to classify and to diagnos possible alterations, we can carry them an effective and
adequate prevention, fit out or rehabilitation. The present paper describes a diagnostic tool called: Protocolo
de Evaluacion en Motrocidad Orofacial (Proposal of a protocol of orofacial motor evaluation) that consider
a integral way the different aspects includes in the orofacial motor system as well temporal bones, racial
aspects and facial typology, anthropometrics measures, orofacial structures and stomatognathic functions.
The examination is been tested in the Centro Terapuetico Peruano Japones (Peruvian-Japanese therapy
centre) in Lima Peru. At the present 350 patientes have been evaluated between 09 months until 80 years
old with difficulties in fono articulation, feeding or breathing, who asked for evaluation or have been referred
to a language, psychology, physiotherapy, neurology and otorhinolaryngology areas.
