RESUMEN
ABSTRACT
This review article aims to analyze the role of nutritional metabolism in
glycobiology and its impact on cell function and health status. The main
components and metabolic pathways involved in the synthesis and modification
of glycans are examined, as well as the effects of nutrients in the regulation of
these pathways. A methodology based on the review of scientific research and
relevant studies in the field of glycobiology is used. The results highlight that
nutritional metabolism plays a crucial role in glycobiology and in the regulation
of glycan synthesis, modification, and function. Several key metabolic pathways
involved in the production of glycan precursors, such as sugar nucleotides and
acetyl groups, which are required for complex glycan biosynthesis, have been
identified. In conclusion, this review article highlights the close relationship
between nutritional metabolism and glycobiology. Nutrients play a critical role in
glycan synthesis and modification, as well as cellular function and overall
health.
