OBJETIVO GENERAL
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
Develop in the student the abilities for proposing and explaining the product/service,
price, promotion, and place decisions that manufacturing and service companies make
in the global economy.
OBJETIVOS ESPECÍFICOS
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
1. Develop in the student the abilities for proposing and explaining the product/service,
price, To explain the relationship of marketing and other disciplines of knowledge.
2. Apply the theoretical knowledge to the analysis of the marketing practices of some
leader firms in the Colombian market.
3. Make product, price, promotion, and distribution decisions for a product or service
regarding the internal and external environment of the target company.
ESTRATEGIAS PEDAGÓGICAS
El estudiante deberá preparar antes de cada clase las lecturas y los casos programados
para lograr una activa y constructiva participación durante la sesión.

Durante el semestre y en grupos de cinco o seis estudiantes, se desarrollará un proyecto
aplicado que permitirá interpretar situaciones típicas del mercadeo en la realidad
colombiana a partir de los conceptos trabajados en clase. Cada grupo será asignado
a una categoría de producto sobre la cual deberá trabajar para responder una guía
de análisis que se le entregará oportunamente. Los estudiantes deberán exponer en las
sesiones 12 y 18 los avances del trabajo. En la sesión 1 se formarán los grupos de trabajo.
TEACHING STRATEGIES
Marketing fundamentals is a six credits course. It means that students need to dedicate
six hours per week of independent study before the class, and three hours per week
attending the lectures for clarifying doubts and for evaluating the learning outcomes.
The students must read before the class the texts assigned for improving their
contributions to the development of the sessions. The professor will choose the
mechanisms for motivating and evaluating the advancement of the students in the
course.
During the semester, the students must work in an applied project in groups integrated
by no more than four students. The purpose of the project is to use the main concepts of
marketing for understanding market-related situations in the Colombian context. Each
group must analyze a category of product following a guide of analysis provided by the
professor. Also, each group must present the results of these analyses at sessions 12 and
18 during the semester.
