DESCRIPCIÓN EN ESPAÑOL
A partir de la comprensión de los conceptos fundamentales sobre mercadeo adquiridos en las
asignaturas que son pre-requisito de Gerencia de Mercadeo, como son Fundamentos de
Mercadeo e Investigación de Mercados y dentro de un contexto de innovación en producto,
servicio o proceso, el estudiante debe ser capaz de utilizar su conocimiento previo y aplicarlo en
la creación de una idea innovadora para formular y elaborar un plan de mercadeo estratégico
teniendo en cuenta el análisis del entorno, el sector del mercado y regido bajo principios de
mercadeo con responsabilidad social.
DESCRIPCIÓN EN INGLÉS
From the understanding of fundamental marketing concepts acquired in the courses which are
prerequisite of Marketing Management, such as Foundations of Marketing and Marketing
Research, and within the context of innovation in product, service or process, the student must
be able to use his/her prior knowledge and apply it in the creation of an innovative and strategic
Marketing Plan for a new or old product/service, entrepreneurial project or idea, taking into
account the analysis of the external and internal environment, and the market sector under the
principles of social responsibility.
OBJETIVO DE FORMACIÓN
La asignatura de Gerencia de Mercadeo está diseñada para que los estudiantes apliquen su
conocimiento en la definición o adecuación de estrategias competitivas y planes de acción de
mercadeo en las organizaciones actuales, teniendo en cuenta el respeto por el ser humano, el
medio ambiente y la realidad del país a nivel interno y global.
OVERALL OBJECTIVE
This course is intended to provide the appropriate knowledge and insights into the competitive
strategies and action plans of marketing, and helps students to understand how to perform in
today’s changing environments without forgetting the importance of respect for human beings,
natures and the market´s particularities.
OBJETIVOS ESPECÍFICOS
Al finalizar el curso de Gerencia de Mercadeo, se espera que los estudiantes logren los
siguientes objetivos específicos:

At the end of the Marketing Management course, the students are expected to achieve the
following specific objectives:
ESTRATEGIAS PEDAGÓGICAS
La asignatura Gerencia de Mercadeo se ha establecido de tres créditos académicos, lo que
implica 6 horas a la semana de estudio autónomo del estudiante y tres horas semanales
presenciales de contacto con el profesor. En esta asignatura se utilizarán los casos
empresariales como metodología de docencia y de aprendizaje. Se realizarán 2 evaluaciones
acumulativas acerca de los contenidos del curso. Los estudiantes desarrollarán un plan de
mercadeo para resolver un problema real de una empresa en el marco del Marketing Challenge.
Los casos de Harvard Business School Publishing que se pondrán a disposición de los
estudiantes, están autorizados para el uso exclusivo de los alumnos de esta asignatura en la
Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Su uso en otros cursos y por fuera de la Pontificia Universidad
Javeriana está prohibido y tendrá consecuencias legales
PEDAGOGICAL STRATEGIES
The Marketing Management course has established three academic credits, which implies 6
hours a week of autonomous study of the student and three contact hours per week with the
teacher. There will be 3 evaluations: The first an analysis of the environment and a business
sector related to the course project. The second and third cumulative about the course content.

teacher. In this subject, business cases will be used as teaching and learning methodology.
There will be 2 cumulative evaluations about the course content. Students will develop a
marketing plan to solve a real problem of a company within the framework of the Marketing
Challenge.
The Harvard Business School Publishing cases that will be made available to students are
authorized for the exclusive use of the students of this subject at the Pontificia Universidad
Javeriana. Its use in other courses and outside the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana is prohibited
and will have legal consequences.

To conduct markets research (from primary and secondary sources) to understand the

To identify and use criteria for Segmentation and identification of the target market.
To propose elements to strengthen brand positioning and competitive analysis.
To formulate market offers based on the creation and delivery of value through product /
service, price, distribution channels and integrated communications strategies.
