DOC1847351 REVISION 1 PlatinumOne, PrecisionRXi, PrecisionMPi COMPUTER TOWER REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE
7. Overview
There are many different situations in which a tower replacement might be warranted, ranging from
intermittent instability to complete system failure. Covering each possible scenario is beyond the
scope of this replacement procedure. However, this document is intended to provide enough
information to guide most replacement situations.
Beginning with the original tower, you will record as much configuration information as possible and
create backup files to help configure the new computer. In some cases, you may not be able to
capture some or all of this information. You may need to resort to old backup files or to manual
configuration during installation of the new tower.
1. Power up the computer. When you see the windows loading screen, press and hold the
left <SHIFT> key to interrupt the auto-login process. Release the <SHIFT> key when the
user login prompt is displayed.
2. Log in to the system as user serviceapp (password: orion). The Service Application will
attempt to start automatically. If it starts, close it. If it fails, click OK in any error
message presented.
3. After the Service Application is closed or fails to start, the Clinical Application may
attempt to start automatically. If it fails, click OK in any error message presented.
The system should remain idle at the Windows desktop. Proceed with the remaining
instructions in this section.

c) Make note of the settings displayed in the General tab of the properties
window.
4. Repeat the following steps for each of the three Save windows (sysconfig,
userconfig, and LUTs):
a) Navigate to the desired directory on the USB drive to save the new
backup file.
b) If desired, change the default file name in the File Name field.
Remember that you will need to be able to identify the file type, so the
file name should clearly identify sysconfig, userconfig, or LUTs, as
appropriate, but may also include site name or date of backup.
c) Click Save.
5. After completing the backup of all three files, close the configuration window.
6. Exit Service Application.
2. Copy the Merge folder and paste the copy into the directory containing your
backup files on the USB drive.
3. Navigate to C:\Winnt\System32\Drivers\Etc.
4. Copy the Hosts file and paste the copy into the directory containing your backup
files on the USB drive.
5. Close all browsing windows so that the system is idle at the Windows desktop.
NOTE: The image files associated with a typical patient database on PlatinumOne-based
systems can require significant storage space. Ensure that your USB drive has sufficient
available space before beginning this procedure. To check the amount of space required,
right-click on the Image_db folder in the root of C:\ on the imaging system, select
Properties, and note the “size on disk” reported by Windows. This is the amount of
available space that will be required on your USB drive. Flash drives often will not be
sufficient to transfer the patient database; an external USB hard drive of 120GB or more
is generally required.
1. In the system tray (small icons in the lower right corner of the screen, next to the
clock in the task bar), right-click on the SQLServer management icon and stop
the server.
2. Navigate to C:\MSSQL7\.
3. Copy the DATA folder and paste the copy into the directory containing your
backup files on the USB drive.
4. Navigate to the root of C:\.
5. Copy the Image_db folder and paste the copy into the directory containing your
backup files on the USB drive. The copy process may take up to several minutes,
depending on the size of the local patient database on the system. (See Note at
the beginning of this section. Significant storage space may be required during
this step.)
6. After the file copy is complete, close all browsing windows and power down the
system.
NOTE: It is not necessary to start SQL Server again before powering down the
system. It will start automatically on the next system startup.
Because you may be replacing a computer of one platform with a new computer of another
platform, it is critical that you understand the function of each cable connected to the system
because the connection positions may vary from one platform to another. When connecting
the new computer, make sure you connect the cables to the correct positions, as indicated in
the following diagram. Do not rely on the position of the connection on the old system, as it
may not be the same function or in the same place on the new system.

For additional information about cable connections and functions, see the product
Service Manual.
NOTE: Many connections on the back of the computer are used for options that
may or may not be equipped on all systems. Optional connections for
which no cable exists in your installation may remain disconnected.
In this section, you will power up the new computer and restore configuration settings from
notes and backup files taken from the old computer. For parameters that could not be
recorded or backed up on the old computer, you will need to manually restore the system
configuration using information found in the Service Manual, installation documentation,
and/or information obtained from site personnel. After the new computer is powered up, the
Service Manual can be opened in electronic format using the icon on the Windows desktop.

sent to the DICOM network storage device(s) without causing problems with their billing or
workflow.
1. Power up the system. DO NOT interrupt the auto-login process. Allow the system
to boot normally into the default ‘operator’ account. The Clinical Application will
start automatically.
2. Open the patient list window. If you restored a patient database from the old
system, the window may take a few seconds to open, depending on the size of
the database you restored. The default database will show only the Test Patterns
patient.
3. Open a test patient session in one of the following ways:
• If worklist is available and a test patient has been created, use the worklist
tab in the patient list window to query for and open the test patient.
• To create a test patient locally, click the new patient button, enter some
generic information into required fields (varies by site; identified by
asterisks), and open the patient session.
4. Acquire at least one of each image type supported by the system. Basic image
types, available on all system configurations, include live fluoro, fluoro loop,
single spot, and serial spot. Optional image types supported only in certain
configurations include Roadmapping, DSA, and Tomo. Make sure that you also
verify all fields of view.
5. If DICOM network storage services are used at the site, send at least one image
to each of the available DICOM storage devices to verify connectivity.
6. If the site uses media for image archive, send at least one image to a blank
media in the DICOM Media drive in the system.
7. If the site uses DICOM print services from the system, send at least one image to
each printer used at the site to verify connectivity.
8. Close the patient session and delete the test patient to verify delete privileges in
the database.
9. Open the TestPatterns patient file and select the sixth image. It should display a
SMPTE pattern.
10. Verify appropriate appearance of the SMPTE pattern. Most importantly, verify
that the 5% differences in both white and black are visible.
11. If the system is equipped with a reference monitor, send the SMPTE pattern to
the reference display and verify correct appearance of the gray levels.
12. If the system is equipped with a low-line scan converter display, verify that the
gray levels are correctly displayed on that monitor.
13. Close the TestPatterns patient session.
14. Close the Clinical Application.

This appendix applies primarily to certain versions of PrecisionRXi and PrecisionMPi systems, but also
to any PlatinumOne system similarly equipped with the Heliflex direct- couple lens on the camera.
Refer to the service manual for identification of the lens if necessary.
NOTE: This appendix does NOT apply to PrecisionRXi systems loaded with 2007.12.14.02 XP-Patch
6.1 software. DO NOT apply these instructions to such systems. To determine software load,
refer to the Software Versions tab in the Status window of the Clinical Application. If your
system is loaded with this software and you are encountering difficulty with spot iris
calibration, please contact your next level of support for guidance
The Heliflex direct-couple lens includes a Neutral Density (ND) filter that can move in and out of the
field based on camera mode. This behavior is configurable by way of the DDM firmware on the IAPDB
in the imaging system.
By default, replacement towers are configured to disable the ND filter movement such that it never
moves into the field. This can cause failure of the spot iris calibration when a new tower is installed on
a system where the ND filter movement is required. In such cases, it is necessary to update the DDM
firmware to enable ND filter movement and thus allow successful calibration of the spot iris.
Procedure:
1. In the Service Application, click Update.
2. In the Update window, click Uninstall DDM. Click OK in the confirmation that the
DDM was removed.
3. In the Update window, click IAPB DDM Module. A browsing window opens.
4. In the browsing window, navigate to the appropriate flashburn directory as
indicated below for your system configuration.
Configuration Path
PlatinumOne RF/DSA C:\Program Files\InfiMed\Flashburn
PrecisionRXi RF/DSA C:\Program Files\GE\Flashburn
PrecisionMPi RF/DSA C:\Program Files\GE\Flashburn
5. Select the DDMFlashableND.ddm file and click Open. The update may take up to
15 seconds to complete.
6. Close the Update window.
7. Exit the Service Application.
8. If the Clinical Application starts automatically, close the application.
9. Perform a normal system shut down through the Windows Start menu. Allow the
system to remain powered off for at least 10 seconds.
10. Power up the system and log in as user ‘serviceapp’.
The DDM firmware in your system is now configured for ND filter operation. Return to the calibration
section and perform calibration.
