X–ray equipment if not properly used may cause injury. Accordingly, the instructions herein contained
should be thoroughly read and understood by everyone who will use the equipment before you attempt to
place this equipment in operation. The General Electric Company, Medical Systems Group, will be glad to
assist and cooperate in placing this equipment in use.
Although this apparatus incorporates a high degree of protection against x–radiation other than the useful beam,
no practical design of equipment can provide complete protection. Nor can any practical design compel the opera-
tor to take adequate precautions to prevent the possibility of any persons carelessly exposing themselves or others
to radiation.
It is important that everyone having anything to do with x–radiation be properly trained and fully acquainted with the
recommendations of the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements as published in NCRP
Reports available from NCRP Publications, 7910 Woodmont Avenue, Room 1016, Bethesda, Maryland 20814, and
of the International Commission on Radiation Protection, and take adequate steps to protect against injury.
The equipment is sold with the understanding that the General Electric Company, Medical Systems Group, its
agents, and representatives have no responsibility for injury or damage which may result from improper use of the
equipment.
Various protective material and devices are available. It is urged that such materials or devices be used.
CERTIFIED ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR STATEMENT
All electrical installations that are preliminary to positioning of the equipment at the site prepared for the equipment
shall be performed by licensed electrical contractors. In addition, electrical feeds into the Power Distribution Unit
shall be performed by licensed electrical contractors. Other connections between pieces of electrical equipment,
calibrations, and testing shall be performed by qualified GE Medical personnel. The products involved (and the
accompanying electrical installations) are highly sophisticated, and special engineering competence is required.
In performing all electrical work on these products, GE will use its own specially trained field engineers. All of GE’s
electrical work on these products will comply with the requirements of the applicable electrical codes.
The purchaser of GE equipment shall only utilize qualified personnel (i.e., GE’s field engineers, personnel of third–
party service companies with equivalent training, or licensed electricians) to perform electrical servicing on the
equipment.

DAMAGE IN TRANSPORTATION
All packages should be closely examined at time of delivery. If damage is apparent, have notation “damage in
shipment” written on all copies of the freight or express bill before delivery is accepted or “signed for” by a Gen-
eral Electric representative or a hospital receiving agent. Whether noted or concealed, damage MUST be reported
to the carrier immediately upon discovery, or in any event, within 14 days after receipt, and the contents and con-
tainers held for inspection by the carrier. A transportation company will not pay a claim for damage if an inspection
is not requested within this 14 day period.
Call Service Center, Beijing, China, 86-800 810 8088 immediately after damage is found. At this time be ready to
supply name of carrier, delivery date, consignee name, freight or express bill number, item damaged and extent of
damage.
Complete instructions regarding claim procedure are found in Section “S” of the Policy & Procedure Bulletins.
OMISSIONS & ERRORS

GE personnel, please use the GEMS CQA Process to report all omissions, errors, and defects in this documenta-
tion. Customers, please contact your GE Sales or Service represenatives.
CAUTION
Do not use the following devices near this equipment. Use of these devices near this equipment could cause this
equipment to malfunction.
Devices not to be used near this equipment:
Devices which intrinsically transmit radio waves such as; cellular phone, radio transceiver, mobile radio transmit-
ter, radio-controlled toy, etc.
Keep power to these devices turned off when near this equipment.
Medical staff in charge of this equipment is required to instruct technicians, patients and other people who may be
around this equipment to fully comply with the above regulation.

SECTION 1 - INTRODUCTION
1-1 PURPOSE
This DASIFN+ (5117243) firmware upgrade kit is intended to be used on the installed base of GDAS for CTBe1 and
CTBe2. Engineering developed DASIFN+ firmware upgrade kit (5167820) which is intended to be used to on
CTBe1 and CTBe2 w/ GDAS to upgrade firmware of OC DASIFN+ (5117243) or later by downloading latest firm-
ware from OC.
1-2 MANPOWER REQUIREMENTS

One (1) Field Engineer, 0.5 hour in field plus travel.

SECTION 3 - UPGRADE PROCEDURE
3-1 INSTALL THE SOFTWARE

1. Download the following files to laptop from your local service online center.
• quartusii_50_sp1_programmer.exe
• 5117243_u14_rev2.pof or later
• 5117243ADF_rev2.pdf or later
2. Double click the program name quartusii_50_sp1_programmer.exe, a user interface will appears, click Next.

3. Select “I accept the terms of the license agreement”, then continue to click Next.
4. The following user interface appears. Separately input “GE Healthcare” in User Name and Compary Name,
then click Next.

5. Keep default state and click Next.

6. Select “Stand-Alone Programmer”, then click Next three times.

7. Software installation interface appears, wait for several minutes.

8. After installation procedure completed, click Finish.
3-2 SOFTWARE SETTING

1. Select Start Menu -> Programs -> Altera -> Quartus II 5.0sp1 Programmer to run this program on lower left
corner of the laptop.
2. The following user interface appears, select Hardware Setup button.

3. Hardware Setup window appears, select Add Hardware button in Hardware Settings column, then a message
window will appear.
Select “ByteBlasterMV or ByteBlaster II” in Hardware type item and select “LPT1” in Port item
click OK.
4. The following window appears. If “No Hardware” still displays in Currently selected hardware column, click
“ByteBlaster [LPT1]” in Available hardware items list, until “ByteBlaster [LPT1]” displays in Currently selected
hardware column. Then close the window.

5. The following window appears, select “Active Serial Programming” in Mode column.
6. The software setting is finished.

Note
Please keep this software open until firmware download finished, otherwise you have to reset Mode
column to “Active Serial Programming” state.

3-3 CONNECT CABLES

1. Turn OFF the OC main power.
2. Remove the rear cover from the OC.
3. Connect the Download Cable with cable connector marked ‘DAS’ of the Parallel Cable.

4. Connect cable connector marked ‘OGP’ of the Parallel Cable to laptop and fasten the two screws.
5. Connect the other side of the download cable to DASIFN board of OC.

1. Turn ON the OC main power.
2. Click Add File button, select 5117243_u14_rev2.pof or later file from the folder of laptop.
3. The following window appears, make sure that the checksum is consistent with the downloaded
5117243ADF_rev2.pdf or later file.
4. Click squares under the “Program/Configure” and “Verify” to select them, then click Start.

6. Check the result.
a. If the result shown as below illustration, install procedure is ok, directly perform 3-5 DATA TRANSFER
TEST.
b. If the result shown as below Illustration, install procedure is error. Check if the cables are correctly connect,
then re-install the newest *.pof file.
The following error messages show that the cables are not correctly connected and fastened.

If Error 2 message repeatedly occurs, maybe the download cable (5165856) is bad.

1. After the newest *.pof file installation finished, disconnect the cables from the DASIFN. It’s not necessary to
reboot OC or System.
2. In OC user interface, select service -> Diagnostics -> Das Data Transfer Test. A window appears, set scan
condition.

3. Press “OK -> Confirm -> Scan” to execute the data transfer test.
• If there is no error occurred, the data transfer test is OK, the DASIFN+ (5117243) upgrade finished.
• If there are some errors during 50 times data transfer test, you have to check the below items.
- Make sure the fiber connection is ok.
- Make sure the download result is all right.
- Try once again.
4. Restore the OC to original state.
