HUMAN RESOURCES/EXPATRIATE/KRISTAH
Honesty and trust are the pillars of success in negotiations with Greek businessmen
As in other countries, it is always good to have a trusted intermediary for both parties
who can make the first approaches. If you do not have this resource, the best way to
make an appointment is to do it through a phone call, it is more effective than an email
or a letter.
The Greeks retain many values such as honesty, trust and kindness, it is very likely that
they will be invited to lunch or dinner to carry out the first meetings, this in order to
learn more about you, your company and your company. country and then talk about
business.
Also, keep in mind the dates of the holidays during which companies close so that you do
not have inconveniences or have to stay more days than initially planned for your
business trip.

Gifts
Gifts are well seen and accepted in the Greek business world, you can choose to give
something representative of your company, such as a good quality pen with the logo, a
good specially selected wine is a good option. In Greek culture, gifts are usually
reciprocated, so make sure that they are not so expensive, so you will not make your
interlocutor feel committed to the matter. Gifts are usually opened when received. If you
are invited to dinner at the home of one of your members, you can bring something
small, such as wine, flowers or chocolates.
Greetings
When the first meetings are held, a firm handshake at the beginning and at the end of
each meeting, smiling and maintaining eye contact, is the most successful. As more
encounters unfold, your partner may opt for a gentle goodbye hug or a gentle tap on the
shoulder. When there is a higher degree of trust, it is possible that the hugs are more
friendly and in the case of women, they give a kiss on each cheek.
Always use the titles preceded by the last name, both when introducing yourself and
when greeting your interlocutors, as hierarchy is a highly respected concept in Greek
business culture.
meetings
After the formal introductions, you must submit your business card, which must be in
Greek on one side and English on the other. Generally, the Greeks start business
meetings with a more informal conversation about general matters, which may be
accompanied by a coffee or other drink and only after this they enter professional and
business matters.
Usually, the meetings are always attended by a high command, who is the one who
makes the most important decisions, usually the owner of the company or someone
delegated by him. The meetings with the Greeks do not usually follow a formal order,
they are rather open spaces in which you can expose and present your company, your
products and services.
It is very likely that several meetings will take place before reaching an agreement, as it
takes a long time for Greek businessmen to trust foreigners.
Talks
They are very good and tough negotiators at the same time, so they will expect the
same position from you.
They are very given to debate and defend their interests, so always maintain a flexible
position that allows you to reach a good agreement that benefits both parties. Do not be
surprised if at some point in the negotiations your interlocutors raise their tone, this is a
sign that the proposal you are making catches their attention.
Keep in mind that Greeks tend to ask for a lot of price reductions, so your offers should
have a wide price range,so that when negotiating you are not affected.
Finally, it is recommended not to lose your calm at any point of the negotiations, never
put your interlocutors in trouble in front of others, be honest, comply with the
agreements that have been agreed and earn the trust of your partners, this will make
the success of your foray into the Greek market is guaranteed.

· The worker must have contributed for at least one month to a Spanish company.
· The worker must not be sent to replace another posted worker, except in the event that
both postings do not add up to more than 24 months.
The displacement is communicated to the Social Security through the TA-300 model. In
turn, the worker receives the A1 form, which certifies that he contributes in the country
of origin.
If there is a bilateral agreement with the country of destination, the worker will quote
according to that agreement. This type of displacement requires a specific form for each
country, in addition to the aforementioned TA-300 model.
In the event that there is no agreement, the obligation to contribute in Spain remains. If
the country of destination requires contributions to its social security system, the worker
must contribute in both countries. In this case, form DP-90 must be completed.
Lastly, we recommend applying for the European health card if the country of destination
is European.

INDICATED TO GO TO WORK?
Greece is not an idyllic country for foreigners residing far from their homeland. In fact, it
is considered by expatriates as the worst place in the world to live and work, according
to the Expat Insider 2017 study, which surveyed nearly 13,000 emigrants about working
conditions and quality of life in more than 60 key destinations around the globe.
Half of those displaced to Greece say that they do not have enough money to cover their
daily expenses and 27% even say that it is not enough to survive. Also, the compatibility
between work and family life is absolutely disastrous.
Added to this is the general climate of insecurity experienced by the country as a result
of the economic crisis. Furthermore, a third of those surveyed rate Greece's political
stability as very poor. The high price of schools and the deplorable quality of education
do not help family welfare either.
In order to work in Greece, Spaniards must apply to the Police Headquarters (Astinomikò
Tmíma) for the "Ádia Paramonís" (residence permit) as a citizen of the European Union,
presenting, together with the application, an identity document and three photographs,
also the documents that prove the professional activity.
To register on the lists of job seekers (grafío ergasías), you must appear before the
Sections for Employment with territorial jurisdiction (OAED: www.oaed.gr).
· Identification document
For the export of unemployment benefits, the Spanish citizen must ask the employment
offices, before their trip to Greece, for the corresponding model provided for by the
European Union regulations (E-301 or E-303). With this model, and proving the status of
a job seeker in Greece, you must appear before the competent IKA (Ídrima Kinonikón
Asfalíseon) office by reason of territory.
