INTRODUCCIÓN A LA ADMINISTRACIÓN
Introducción
One of the most important aspect of English grammar are verbs. There are verbs
used in present and past and they are different in writting and spelling. That is
the reason students must manage this structure. They need to differentiate the
tenses accoording to the verb.
In this unit there will be presented Pharsal verbs meaning and examples, verbs
and the classification with the examples. Present continous will be developed,
stucture, rules and examples.
Uno de los aspectos más importantes de la gramática inglesa son los verbos.
Hay verbos usados en presente y pasado y son diferentes en escritura y
ortografía. Esa es la razón por la que los estudiantes deben conocer esta
estructura. Necesitan diferenciar los tiempos verbales de acuerdo con el verbo.
Objetivos
General
Adquired general knowledge about some verbs structure. Adquirir
conocimientos generales relacionadas a algunas estructuras verbales.
Específicos
Enunciate Pharsal verbs. Enunciar las frases verbales.
Identify the adjectives and its Opposite. Identificar los adjetivos y sus
opuestos.

2- Verbs
They are defined as part of speech, it indicates the action that the subject performs.
(Hutchinson, 2014)
Se definen como parte del discurso, que indica la acción que el sujeto desarrolla, por ejemplo:
Example:
There are some basic forms of verbs: hay varias formas del verbo.
• Base form: the cat eats a lot. Forma básica: eat: come.
• Infinitive form: tell him not to drink too much. Forma infinitiva. Tell: decir.
• Past tense: I played tennis all day. Tiempo pasado played: jugué.

Regular verbs: they are verbs that you add ed ending in present verb in this way the verb become
verb in past. Los verbos regulares son aquellos que se les agrega al verbo en presente la
terminación ed de esta forma el verbo se convierte en pasado. (Hutchinson, 2014) Ejemplo:

Irregular verbs: They are verbs that change the writting and the spelling in present and past.
There are some verbs that are written in the same way but they change the pronunciation. Los
verbos irregulares son los que cambian en la escritura y en su pronunciación en presente y
pasado. Hay algunos verbos que se escriben de la misma forma tanto en presente como pasado,
pero varían en la pronunciación.(Hutchinson, 2014)

Finitive verbs: This verb refers to the subject, it descibres what the person does. It can change
accoording to the number and person of the subject. For example; Tom wrote a poem. The person
who does the action is Tom. Verbos finitivos se refieren al sujeto que realiza la acción. Describe
lo que hace el sujeto. Puede cambiar según el número y la persona del sujeto.(Hutchinson, 2014)
Action verbs: It describes what the person does, it allows the reader or listener see, feel,
accurately.
Verbos de acción: Describen lo que la persona hace, permite al lector o al oyente ver y sentir
con precisión. Action verbs can be classified into Transitive and intransitive verbs. Este tipo de
verbo puede ser clasificado en verbos transitivos y verbos intransitivos. (Hutchinson, 2014)
Transitive verb: they have direct object (d.o). they demands someone or something to be acted
upon.
Examples:
She painted the book verb: painted. This verb requieres someone who perform the action.
Verbos transitivos: Tienen objeto directo, son los que requieren que alguien realice la acción.
Ejemplo: Ella pinta el libro: el verbo es pintar. Quien realiza la acción es ella. (Hutchinson, 2014)
Intransitive verb: they can be followed be an adverb, preposition, adjectives. They do not act
upon anything.
Example:
You smiled. verb: smiled cannot have any object because the action of smiling does not fall upon
anything or anyone.
Los verbos transitivos: son seguidos de un adverbio, proposición o adjetivos. Ellos no actúan
sobre nada.
Ejemplo:

Ella sonríe. El verbo es sonreír no puede tener ningún objeto porque la acción de sonreír no
recae sobre nada o nadie. (Hutchinson, 2014)
Linking verbs: They give details about the subject, the word that follow the linking verbs creates
a link between them, so they do not show the action.
Examples of linking words: am, is, are, were, remain, become, sound, grow, appear, feel, act,
prove, taste, turn and stay.
Example:
Los verbos conectores: Dan detalles sobre el sujeto, la palabra que sigue al verbo conector crea
una unión entre ambos.
Ejemplos de verbos conectores verbo to be: am, is, are, llegar a ser, permanecer, sonar, crecer,
aparecer, sentir, actuar, probar, saborear, permanecer. (Hutchinson, 2014)
Auxilairy verbs or helping verbs: The auxiliary verb extend the main verb by helping to show
tense and posibility. The auxilairy verb of presen simple is do.
Los verbos auxiliares son los verbos que extienden al verbo principal ayudándolos a mostrar el
tiempo verbal, posibilidad.(Hutchinson, 2014)
For example: red, fast. They also can describe the quantity of nouns for example: many, milions.
Los adjetivos se definen como palabras o frases que describen las cualidades de los sustantivos,
por ejemplo: rojo, rápido. También pueden describir la cantidad de sustantivos, por ejemplo:
muchos, millones.

If the sentences have verb to be the word order is the following: verb to be + adjectives. Si la
oración tiene verbo to be le orden para hacer oraciones es el siguiente:
4- Present Continous
This tense is used when the action is done at the moment of speaking. Este tiempo se usa cuando
la acción se desarrolla en el momento en que se habla. (Hutchinson, 2014)

There are other uses of present continous for example; when the action is temporary, it means
when the action is not permanent and it will not continue for a long time for example: I am studying
with a friend this week. – she is working with me until she finds a new job. (Hutchinson, 2014)
The other use is for temporary habits for example he is eating a lot these days. The next use is
for annoying habits for example; you are always losing your books they are used with always,
forever constantly. The other use is for unfinished actions now, for example: am working at the
moment they are used with the following words; now, at the moment.(Hutchinson, 2014)

Definite future plans: I am meeting my father tomorrow at 7. They are used with the following
words; tomorrow, later, at 7 pm, tonight, on Saturday.(Hutchinson, 2014)
Hay otros usos del presente simple por ejemplo cuando la acción es temporaria, o sea no es
permanente y no va continuar por mucho tiempo. Ejemplo. Yo estoy estudiando con un amigo
esta semana, ella está trabajando conmigo hasta que consiga un nuevo trabajo. El otro uso seria
para hábitos temporarios, por ejemplo, ella esta comiendo mucho en estos días. El siguiente uso
es para hábitos molestos, por ejemplo, tu estas siempre perdiendo tus llaves. Se usan son las
palabras siempre, por siempre y constantemente. La otra regla de uso es para acciones que no
que han terminado aún. Por ejemplo; estoy trabajando en este momento. Se usan con las
siguientes palabras, ahora, en este momento. Otro uso del presente continuo es para planes
definidos del futuro, por ejemplo; me voy a encontrar con mi padre a las 7 mañana, se usan con
las siguientes palabras; mañana, más tarde, a las 7, esta noche, el sábado.
