REMEMBER:
We use the auxiliary verb (do) to ask and answer questions:
Do you like tea?               No, I don’t.        Yes, I do.

Prepositions of time
Audio

In English, we use many prepositions to talk about time. A preposition is a

word used to link or connect nouns, pronouns, or phrases to other words within
a sentence.
The use of prepositions in English is not so regular, which means that we have
to learn them by heart in most cases.
Examples:
I was born in June.
I jog on Mondays.
See you at 5 o´clock.

NOTAS CLASE 8

 CLASE 8:

Simple present / likes + ing

Language Building
Audio I:

Present Simple (He and she)

First of all, what does third-person singular mean?
It means that you are referring to a person (just one) who is not part of
the conversation. It is usually represented by the personal
pronouns “he” and “she”, by noun phrases "the girl", "my father", or by
proper nouns "Peter", "Jim Gordon", "Anastasia".

Let’s see some examples:

1. He is a doctor.
2. She lives in London.
3. My father works as an electrician.
4. Tom Holland acts as Spider-man.
5. Dana Paola is a famous singer and actress.

When using the present simple, in the third-person singular, verbs change

because of the conjugation. Notice the difference:
I like dogs.  vs.  He likes dogs.

To know how a verb is conjugated, we follow the next spelling rules:
To make sentences, questions, and answers, we follow this structure:

Likes and Dislikes

When talking about likes and dislikes, we use the following verbs:
After these three verbs, we usually use...

 A plural noun:  I like cats,  I hate spiders.

 A verb (-ing form): I hate doing housework, I like running.

Likes and dislikes with activities:
Audio

When these verbs are followed by another verb, the second verb is used in
the "-ing" form, because it is an activity.
Examples:
"I like listening to music."
"I hate wearing sunglasses."

I like

I detest  VERB+ING

I don'tmind

Now, Take a look at this dialogue.

Steve is at home. His girlfriend comes in ...Notice how they express their
likes and dislikes:

Steve: Hello, darling. Do you fancy watching a film tonight?

Oh, no thanks! I don't really feel like watching a film tonight.
Girlfriend:
Howaboutgoingoutinstead?
Steve: OK. Do you feel like going to the theater?
Oh, no! I hate it. Do you mind eating at the new Chinese
Girlfriend:
restaurant?
Steve: I don't mind. Chinese cuisine is alright.
Girlfriend: Well, I really love it. Let'sgo!

Adverbs of Frequency
Audio III:
We use these adverbs to talk about routines and habits; they allow us to say
how often we do something.
These adverbs usually go between the subject and the main verb:

 She never wakes up late.
 The clown always makes us laugh.

BUT, if the main verb in the sentence is the verb to be, then the frequency
adverb goes after it, like this:

 This weather is not always good.
 Canadians are usually very kind.
