La Muela del Diablo

La Muela del Diablo es una colina ubicada cerca de la ciudad de La Paz, Bolivia, a 300
metros de altura
Es una de las formaciones erosionadas del sur de La Paz. Una inmensa roca con
forma de muela humana que sobresale por sobre las demás, de un color rojizo, de ahí
el nombre Muela del Diablo. Está ubicada sobre un terreno arcilloso y resbaloso que
tiene una deformidad natural

TURISMO
Es visitada por turistas y aficionados, se
puede ir caminando o en vehículo por una
carretera asfaltada, está permitido acampar.
Queda al sur de la Zona Sur, se accede a
través del barrio periférico de El Pedregal;
cruzar el río y trepar por el pueblo hacia el
cementerio; desde allí es una subida de hora
y media. También, debido a su formación
rocosa, es utilizado para escalado con
cuerdas

Mitos y leyendas
En idioma aymara, este lugar se llama Auqi Qollo,
que significa cerro viejo.

Según las leyendas en el lugar hubo una batalla entre

ángeles y demonios. Un demonio perdió su muela y
quedó ahí, para mostrar el poderío angelical . Se cree q
las personas que pisan ese lugar quedan encantadas o
maldecidas, hay personas que aseguran a ver visto
duendes por la zona. También personas que aseguran
que se hicieron rituales al Diablo dentro de la muela los
lugareños hacen un ritual cada año para que la muela
no los maldiga

The Muela del Diablo

The Muela del Diablo is a hill located near the city of La Paz, Bolivia, at 300 metres
above sea level.
It is one of the eroded formations south of La Paz. An immense rock shaped like a
human molar that stands out above the others, of a reddish color, hence the name
Muela del Diablo. It is located on a clayey and slippery terrain that has a natural
deformity

TOURISM
It is visited by tourists and amateurs, you can
go walking or by vehicle on a paved road,
camping is allowed. It is located to the south
of the South Zone, it is accessed through the
peripheral neighborhood of El Pedregal;
cross the river and climb through the town
towards the cemetery; from there it is a climb
of an hour and a half. Also, due to its rocky
formation, it is used for rope climbing.

Myths and legends

In the Aymara language, this place is called Auqi
Qollo, which means old hill.
According to legends, there was a battle between
angels and demons. A demon lost his tooth and
remained there, to show the angelic power. It is
believed that people who step on that place are
enchanted or cursed, there are people who claim
to have seen goblins in the area. There are also
people who claim that rituals were made to the
Devil inside the tooth, the locals make a ritual
every year so that the tooth does not curse them.
