GRAMMAR REVIEW

Present simple - Meaning and use

Usamos el presente simple para expresar:
 actividades que realizamos con regularidad
 datos y hechos reales
 hábitos
 situaciones permanentes
every day, once a week, on Fridays.
I check my email every day. (actividad regular)
Sheryl works at the bank. (situación permanente)

Present simple affirmative Present simple negative
misma forma que el infinitive sin 'to'’ sujeto + don’t (do not) + infinitivo
para I, you, we and they. Para sin 'to' para I, you, we and they,
he, she and it, agregamos -s or - y sujeto + doesn’t (does
es al infinitivo. not) + infinitivo sin
'to' para he, she and it.
They live in Rome.
Julian starts work at nine o’clock I don’t eat meat.
and finishes at five. It doesn’t usually snow in October.

Past simple - Meaning and use
She called me at the office yesterday.
I worked in London in 2010.
Steve went to the US three times last year.
I stopped working in London and I looked for another job.

Past simple affirmative Past simple negative

Modal verb “should”

Education should be free for everyone (La educación debería ser gratuita para
todos).
Women shouldn’t be paid less than men for doing the same work (Las mujeres

“to”:
You should to study more if you want to pass that exam. ✗
You should study more if you want to pass that exam. ✓

2. La forma negativa de “should” es “should not”, aunque normalmente

You shouldn’t listen to what James says - he’s often wrong (Más vale que no
The children definitely should not be allowed in the study (Definitivamente, los
niños no deberían entrar en el despacho).
