NULEACIÓN HOMOGÉNEA
Muchos metales
disuelven una gran
cantidad de gas
cuando están
fundidos. Por
ejemplo, el Al disuelve
al H.
Sin embargo al
solidificarse el al el
metal sólido sólo
retiene una fracción
pequeña de H en su
estructura cristalina,
ya que la solubilidad
es apreciablemente
menor.

DIFUSION
La difusión indica el flujo
neto de cualquier especie,
como iones, átomos,
electrones, vacancias y
moléculas.
La magnitud de la difusión
depende del gradiente inicial de
concentraciones y de la
temperatura.
APLICACIONES DE LA DIFUSIÓN

DEL EQUILIBRIO
SOLIDIFICACIÓN DE ALEACIONES FUERA
SEGREGACIÓN Y
MICROSEGREGACIÓN
La composición no
uniforme que se
produce en la
solidificación fuera de
equilibrio se llama
segregación.
La microsegregación,
llamada también
segregación
interdendrítica, se
forma en distancias
cortas, con frecuencia
entre brazos dendríticos
pequeños.
HOMOGENIZACIÓN
Tratamiento térmico
mediante el cual se reduce
la segregación
interdendrítica, consiste en
calentar a una temperatura
menor que la de solidus de
desequilibrio, los átomos
de Ni en el centro de las
dendritas difunden hacia
las regiones
interdendríticas y los
átomos de Cu difunden en
dirección contraria.
