 INTRODUCCIÓN

En todas las aguas del planeta, dulces y saladas, crecen unos organismos fotosintéticos de tamaño
diminuto, pero con un gran potencial. Son las microalgas y hoy en día podemos encontrar sus
principios activos en alimentos, medicamentos o productos cosméticos ya que aportan grandes
beneficios para la salud por su alta concentración en proteínas y sus propiedades antioxidantes.
Como componente de las cadenas tróficas de los ecosistemas acuáticos, la presencia del
zooplancton resulta esencial para el correcto funcionamiento y equilibrio óptimo de dichos
ecosistemas. Por otro lado, la asombrosa biodiversidad que caracteriza a la composición del
zooplancton es considerada como uno de los recursos naturales más importantes de los
ecosistemas acuáticos, ya que garantizan el afloramiento de nutrientes

 ¿Qué son las microalgas?

Las microalgas, son micro-organismos fotosintéticos capaces de producir alimento a

partir de sustancias Inorgánicas, siendo imprescindibles en el mantenimiento de la
vida en La Tierra. Proporcionan compuestos orgánicos de alto valor nutricional y
oxigeno para soportar al reste de la vida del planeta
 El porque del interés de las microalgas

Las microalgas tienen un valor intrínseco por si mismas en los ecosistemas, contribuyen a la
biodiversidad del planeta, son la base de muchas cadenas alimentarias y fijan el CO2 atmosférico
disminuyendo las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero .

LOS CULTIVOS DE MICROALGAS
Medios de cultivo
Técnicas de aislamiento y purificación
 En cultivos pequeños o experimentales se deben usar materiales no
tóxicos como cajas Petri, matraces, etc. Lo cual son adecuadas para
laboratorios.

En cultivos masivos la aireación es un factor muy importante para la

homogenización de los nutrientes y para evitar la sedimentación de las
microalgas.
