¿Qué es el trabajo de parto?
El trabajo de parto es una serie de contracciones
progresivas y continuas del útero que ayudan a que
se dilate y afine (vuelva más delgado) el cuello del
útero para permitirle al feto pasar por el canal de
parto. El trabajo de parto generalmente comienza dos
semanas antes o después de la fecha estimada de
parto.

RAZONES DE LA INDUCCIÓN

• Posiblemente, cuando se presenta diabetes durante el embarazo (diabetes gestacional) o
se tiene diabetes desde antes del embarazo.
• Cuando se presenta presión arterial alta en combinación con signos de daño a otro
sistema de órganos (preeclampsia) durante el embarazo. O bien, cuando se tiene presión
arterial alta antes del embarazo, la cual se presenta antes de la semana 20 del embarazo
(hipertensión arterial crónica) o después de la semana 20 (hipertensión gestacional).
• Cuando la placenta se despega de la pared interna del útero antes del parto, ya sea en
forma parcial o completa (desprendimiento placentario).
