Semana 3: TRANSPORTE A TRAVÉS DE LA MEMBRANA PARTE 2
B
Osmotic fragility test results from an affected and control cat. An Osmotic fragility tube test result with the MOF
(the mean osmotic fragility; NaCl concentration at which 50% of RBC lyzed) is depicted with an arrow (a).
Right shifted curve of an affected cat with increased OF (osmotic fragility) and a normal curve from the
corresponding control cat (b). The curve of the control cat has a sigmoid shape, while the affected cat’s curve
is flattened and hemolysis is occurring in higher NaCl concentrations. Dashed lines indicate in both curves the
MOFs at 50% hemolysis.

Erythrocytic osmotic fragility curve: domestic shorthair cat with chronic regenerative anemia ( square ;
50% hemolysis at 0.70%) and a simultaneously tested healthy control cat ( triangle; 50% hemolysis at
0.55%).
