Una de las grandes preocupacio-

Notes
1 / Originally called San Angeles; the union of all the great cit-
ies of the North American west coast. In Philip K. Dick’s novel,
the action takes place in the city of San Francisco.
2 / Ridley Scott entered Weist Hartlepool College of Art in
1954, where he graduated in 1958, and that same year he
entered the Royal College of Art of South Kensington in
London, where he remained until 1961, and where he was
a fellow student, among other artists, of the painter David
Hockney. Subsequently, he was a postgraduate at the School
of Graphic Design of the RCA in the course Television and
Film Design.
3 / The title of the film changed several times during the
script writing process. The first name was The Bladerunner,
borrowing the name from Alan E. Nourse’s 1974 novel. It was
later called Dangerous Days in the last script test, but Blade
Runner was renamed, borrowed from a science fiction novel
by William S. Burroughs: Blade Runner: A Movie, 1979.
4 / Heavy Metal is a comic book magazine of American origin,
known mainly for its mixture of dark fantasy, science fiction
and eroticism. It has its origin in the magazine Metal Hurlant,
published in France since 1974.
5 / For Sammon (1996), the design of the Tyrell Corporation
building was inspired by the Pyramid of the Sun, one of the
most important Mayan constructions in Teotihuacan, Mexico.
6 / Most of his pictorial themes represent public places
(restaurants, bars, motels, hotels, train stations) that are
practically empty, emphasizing the isolation of the character
and accentuating the dramatic effect through the strong
contrasts of light and shadow. An atmosphere that is still
perceived today in big cities.
