Infinitivo de Propósito

Wait – have – can – do – talk} INFINITIVOS

Caminar – mirar – comer – jugar – dormir} AR – ER – IR} INFINITIVOS
- Siempre que pensamos un verbo lo primero que hacemos en pensarlo en infinitivo.
1. El infinitivo de propósito expresa el motivo por el cual se realiza una acción (la razón) o también
brinda una justificación.
2. También sirve para aclarar que la palabra está actuando como verbo.
To walk is good for your health.
Verbo: IS
Sujeto: Walk (sustantivo)
I walk a lot.
Sujeto: I
Verbo: walk (verbo)
3. Todas las palabras en inglés pueden funcionar como adjetivos, sustantivos y verbos según su
posición en la oración.
- Para evitar esta confunsión, agregamos el “to” antes de los verbos.
I’m walking a lot. I like go out to eat.
I like to go out to eat
I run every day. I like going out to eat
4. En ciertas oraciones, se agrega “TO + V. INFINITIVO”.
5. No en todas las oraciones que haya un “TO” es infinitivo de propósito.
I like to run. (el “to” se usa para separar dos verbos) i teach because i like to talk.
I’m going to the bathroom to get towels. (to = me indica a donde estoy yendo/ to = motivo)
6. En todas las oraciones en las que “TO” se traduzca como “PARA” es infinitivo de propósito.
Tipos
1. TO + INFINITIVO = todo lo que se ubique después de TO es mi motivo. Se utiliza cuando la acción y el
motivo son del mismo sujeto.
I go to school to learn.
2. IN ORDER TO = version complete y formal. Se utiliza para el mismo sujeto.
She goes to work in order to pay her bills.
3. SO AS TO = más formal. Se utiliza para el mismo sujeto.
She goes to Law School so as to defend her brother.
4. SO THAT = se utiliza cuando tenemos dos sujetos.
I study hard so that my parents can be proud of me.

I went to Japan because I wanted to learn Japanese.

ACCIÓN + TO + MOTIVO

I went to Japan to learn Japanese.

They study a lot because they want to get good marks.

they study a lot to get good marks
She made a cake because she wanted to please her friend.
she made a cake in order to please her friend.
they want to sell the actions because they want to raise the stocks
of the company
