Let’s classify our meals with our daily food. (Clasifiquemos nuestras comidas con ejemplos de
alimentos diarios) o Breakfast: o Lunch: o Dinner:
Are they healthy or unhealthy? Can we count them? (¿Son saludables o no? ¿Podemos
contarlos?)
Today’s class we are going to learn about nouns and their classification in countable and
uncountable. Why do we need to distinguish them? Identifying them would help us
communicate the ideas better. (En la classe de hoy aprenderemos sobre los sustantivos y su
clasificación en contables y no contables. ¿Por qué es necesario distinguirlos? Identificándolos
podemos comunicar mejor las ideas).
First, what is a noun? (Primeramente, ¿qué es un sustantivo?).

NOUN is a word used to name a person, animal, place, thing and

abstract ideas (SUSTANTIVO es una palabra utilizada para nombrar
a persona,animal,lugar,cosa e idea abstracta).

Examples: Lily, cat, Tobati, book, friendship (Lily, gato, Tobati, libro,
amistad).

COUNTABLE NOUN -They are nouns that we can count (Son • banana
sustantivos que podemos contar). • hamburger
-They have plural forms (Se pueden pluralizar). • oranges

-We use numbers to count them (Usamos • two apples

UNCOUNTABLE -They are nouns that cannot be counted (Son • sugar

-Generally, they do not have plural forms • tea
(Generalmente no tienen su forma plural). • meat

-We use counters to quantify them (Usamos • juice
contenedores para cuantificarlos). • great
-They name abstract things such as ideas, • happiness
feelings and concepts (Nombran a cosas • education
abstractas tales como ideas, sentimentos y
conceptos).
