®
productos Cat .

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Test Preparation
Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting".

Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "System Pressure Release".

1. Move steering frame lock to the LOCKED position.

2. Engage the parking brake. Move the transmission direction selector to the NEUTRAL position.

3. Position the machine so that the machine is pointing straight ahead.

NOTICE
Bumping or turning the steering wheel could cause excessive oil
pressure in the hydraulic oil line that connects to the pressure gauge.
The excessive oil pressure could cause damage to the pressure gauge.

Do not bump or turn the steering wheel during the following steps.

(2) Pressure tap for the steering pump pressure

1. Attach a 0 to 6000 kPa (0 to 870 psi) pressure gauge to pressure tap (2). Pressure tap (2) is on the panel for
the remote pressure taps that is on the right side of the machine.

2. Start the engine. Operate the engine at high idle. Continuously stall the RACK BACK function while
simultaneously raising the lift arms at full speed. When the lift arms are almost raised, cycle the tilt
cylinder almost to the FULL DUMP position. Then move the tilt cylinders to the full RACK BACK
position. Continuously stall the RACK BACK function and simultaneously lower the lift arms back to the
ground level position. Without stalling the RACK BACK function, cycle the lift function to raise the lift
arms fully. Then lower the lift arms to allow the pump to operate at low-pressure briefly and circulate oil
through the system. Repeat this process to increase the temperature of the oil to normal operating
temperature.

3. After the oil has reached normal operating temperature, position the bucket and any attachments slightly
off the ground. Run the engine at high idle.

4. Record the pressure reading on the pressure gauge. The reading should be 3900 kPa (565 psi).

5. Adjust the flow compensator valve if the pressure is not correct.

Note: Do not adjust the steering pump based on the results of this test. If the pressure reading is not
correct, test the margin pressure. See the following reference for the correct procedure to test the margin
pressure.

6. Stop the engine. Lower the bucket and any attachment to the ground.

7. Remove the hydraulic line and the pressure gauge from pressure tap (2).

Reference: For additional information on testing the margin pressure, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Piston
Pump (Steering) Margin Pressure - Test and Adjust" for the machine that is being serviced.
