INGLES Here are some links with descriptions of how Rapid Shot and Two Weapon Fighting work together. Rules of the Game: Two Handed Fighting Part Two Ranged Fighting with Two Weapons Attacks with two thrown weapons work just as noted for melee weapons, except tha t you use your Dexterity modifier to resolve ranged attacks. You still use your Strength modifier for damage rolls (but only half your Strength bonus for damage rolls with your off-h and weapon). Ranged weapons you don't throw use most of the rules for two-weapon fighting; ho wever, the Two-Weapon Fighting feat and related feats don't apply to ranged weap ons that aren't thrown. Because most ranged weapons that aren't thrown are two-handed weapons, this isn' t a big deal. Crossbows, however, can be fired (but not reloaded) with one hand. Rules of the Game: All About Ranged Attacks Part Two Using Thrown Weapons As noted in Part One, a thrown weapon is something that you launch at a target y ourself. Also as noted in Part One, your Dexterity modifier affects your attack roll with a thrown weapon and your Strength modifier affects your damage roll if your attack hits (except for splash weapons; see below). Because you're throwing the weapon itself, you must draw it before you can attac k with it. Drawing a weapon requires a move action, leaving you with only a stan dard action for the attack. Because you're attacking with a standard action, you can make only a single atta ck. If you have a base attack bonus of at least +1 you can draw a weapon as part of a regular move (see page 141 in the Player's Handbook). See Rules of the Gam e: All About Movement for a discussion of exactly what a regular move is. In thi s case, you're still using a move action for the regular move, and you're still limited to attacking as a standard action. If you can draw your thrown weapon without using an action, or as a free action, you can throw as a full-round action and make iterative attacks with several th rown weapons (one per attack) if your base attack bonus allows. One easy way to manage this trick is by taking the Quick Draw feat, which lets you draw weapons as free action. Official D&D Game Rules FAQ (v.3.5 Main D&D FAQ) Page 57 Can I throw weapons with both hands? What happens if I also use Rapid Shot? The two-weapon fighting rules allow you to use thrown weapons in both hands. As described on page 160 in the PH, a dart or a shuriken is treated as a light weapon for the purpose of two-weapon fighting, while bolas, javelins, nets, or slings are treated as one-handed weapons. For other thrown weapons, compare the weapons weight to those listed here. Generally, a thrown weapon that weighs less than 1 pound (at Medium size) is effectively a light weapon for this purpose. Weapons already defined as light weapons are also considered light. As long as you can draw additional thrown weapons as a free action (such as from the Quick Draw feat), theres no reason you cant also use the Rapid Shot feat to get an extra throw with your primary hand. For example, if a 4th-level fighter has Quick Draw, Rapid Shot, and Two-Weapon Fighting, he can throw two daggers with his primary hand and a third with his off hand. His adjusted base attack bonus is +0 with each dagger (+4 base attack bonus, 2 for using a light weapon in his off hand, 2 for using Rapid Shot).
