Riddle

Henry is out for a walk when it starts to rain.


He doesn´t have an umbrella and he isn´t
wearing a hat. His clothes are soaked, but not
a single hair on his head is wet. How can this
happen?

Objetivo: Identificar y traducir la voz pasiva a partir
de un texto en el ejercicio de comprensión de
lectura mediante la traducción.
Voz pasiva

Verb to be + pasado participio


Cuando se traduce, puede ser a la voz pasiva del español, aunque la
mayoría de las veces resulta más natural la construcción con –se- o
la voz activa
Ejemplo:
The results were obtained in the laboratory
Posible: Los resultados fueron obtenidos en el laboratorio
Mejor: Los resultados se obtuvieron en el laboratorio

1.In 1980, John Lennon, singer, songwriter and co-


founder of the band The Beatles was shot five times with
a 38 revolver by a crazy fan. Lennon was taken to the
hospital but died on arrival from a massive loss of blood.
2. Many legends were told in both Europe and America
about the Fountain of Youth, an imaginary spring.
According to a popular fable, Ponce de Leon went to
Florida in the 16 th century to find this spring. Old stories
said that the waters of the spring were supposed to
restore youth and cure sickness.

3.The first Olympic Games were celebrated in


Greece, in 776 B.C. At first, only one race (the

Theodosius in 394 A.D. It was not until 1896 that
the Olympic Games were revived to promote
understanding and friendship among nations. At
present, the Games are organized, every four
years by the International Olympic Committee
(IOC).

so she decided to take it to the repair shop to fix. There, the
engine is being turned. The oil is being changed. The brakes
are being adjusted. The broken headlight is being replaced.

8.Chichen Itza contains the most impressive and


intact remains of the Mayan civilization. The city
was founded at the beginning of the 6 th century

cities. Yet, its history is still clouded in mystery and
there are many contradicting theories

research results. Computer technology is based on English.
Apart from science and technology, there are many other
fields such as trade and sports in which English is a means of
international communication. English is one of the languages
used by the United Nations and other supranational
organizations.

10.Nuestra Señora de la Asunción de Baracoa was the


first of seven town founded in Cuba by Diego
Velazquez in 1512. Baracoa is located in the
northeastern cost of Guantanamo province. It is
identified with sui generis flat top mountain called
Yunque de Baracoa. This small town has been the
scene of some outstanding events throughout history.
In 1512 the first revolt in the eastern part of Cuba
against the Spanish conquerors was led by a chief of
the indigenous population, a cacique called Hatuey.
He was arrested and later burned at the stake.
