DESCRIPCIÓN DEL CURSO

La asignatura Additional Language to Spanish I se ubica en primer semestre y tiene como antecedente
los cursos anteriores que llevan en la materia de lengua extranjera, cuyos propósitos son acrecentar y
consolidar las prácticas sociales del lenguaje para la interpretación y producción de textos orales y
escritos, reservando la función social, de dichos actos.
La asignatura Additional Language to Spanish I está conformada por tres bloques, los cuales tienen el
objetivo de aportar los elementos generales que garanticen continuidad y la progresión de
experiencias de aprendizaje en la adquisición y en el desarrollo de competencias comunicativas en
esta lengua extranjera. La selección de contenidos responde al principio de que la lengua se aprende
mejor cuando es utilizada con el fin de establecer y de mantener intercambios comunicativos
significativos, y su organización responde al criterio de complejidad progresiva.

CRITERIOS DE EVALUACIÓN

Trabajo en clase /Portafolio / Libro:

En la fecha de examen parcial el alumno deberá tener todos los ejercicios, tareas y actividades realizadas
durante el parcial dentro de una carpeta digital, física (si el maestro lo decide) o en el bloc de notas
(Teams). Todas estas hojas deberán estar guardadas con título por fechas.
 ● El folder deberá incluir únicamente ejercicios del libro o tareas del parcial.
● Este folder deberá ser entregado antes del examen.
● No se reciben libros ni folders después de la fecha del examen, por lo que si el alumno no lo
presenta como es indicado en la fecha señalada no será tomado en cuenta para su calificación.

Libro en Línea:
Cada parcial el alumno deberá realizar las actividades del libro en línea (plataforma)
correspondientes al parcial. La fecha para terminar de realizar las actividades son dos días antes del
examen parcial.
Primer Parcial – (Units 1 & 2)

Proyectos:
Dos o una semana antes de período de evaluaciones el docente presentará y enviará las
instrucciones específicas y rubricas para la elaboración, entrega y presentación del proyecto
oral.

1) El estudiante tiene derecho a un máximo de 2 inasistencias por parcial. Excediendo este límite el
sistema Gradebook reflejará la materia como reprobada.

2) Los estudiantes con beca deben mantener la calificación mínima aprobatoria (7) para no perder su
beca o bajar su promedio.

3) Se trabajarán dos unidades por parcial en la plataforma https://myelt.heinle.com/

4) Información importante sobre los libros:

a) Los estudiantes ocuparán un libro (student’s book) digital y el libro de trabajo en línea.
b) El alumno al tener su horario verá un monto a pagar en su cuenta, debe aceptar el
correspondiente a sus dos libros para su curso.
c) El alumno recibirá un código para descargar su libro digital (student’s book) y un segundo código
para acceder al libro en línea.

5) Es importante asistir a la retroalimentación de cada parcial para conocer la calificación, en caso

contrario, no se podrán solicitar aclaraciones.

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT THE CLASS.

● Students will have 5 minutes tolerance, enter in silence and get ready to participate in the
class. No tolerance after the morning lunch break.
● Active participation is highly important for learning and improving at all the skills.
● You will have three partials; in each you will see two units of the book life 5A: First partial:
units 1&2, Second partial: units 3&4, third partial: units 5&6.
● Classwork means students have to work on the book activities and extra exercises as
portfolio entries (in the BLOC de NOTAS) as well as ACTIVE PARTICIPATION during the
MEETING.
● Homework to be used or revised in class will be checked at the beginning of the class, some
 other assignments will have a due date in the “assignments” section in TEAMS.
● Project: it will be the oral production and the written production: it is about a video students
have to do, explaining a specific topic the teacher will set before the exam. (further and
more specific instructions will be given by the teacher).
● Homework and projects have just one deadline. Delayed activities will not be received.
● Students have to log into the online workbook by registering at myelt.heinle.com . Every
unit must be done at the end of the unit of the book, the unit assignments will be locked
and cannot be done later.
● Student’s books are a must. You will have one-two weeks limit time for getting them.

Basic Rules in the classroom

✓ Please be punctual, I take attendance during the first 20 minutes of the class, right after
the break and 10 minutes before finishing the class.
✓ Be respective with students and teacher, be polite.
✓ Talk properly, be respectful and careful with what you say or write. You can be funny
but never rude.
✓ Work in teams and be proactive.
✓ Try to turn your camera on to introduce yourself the first class, when you participate, to
say “hi” or to say “goodbye” every class.
✓ Yes, grammar and spelling matter. This is an educational and professional setting.
✓ Please don’t interrupt if someone is participating or the teacher is explaining
something. If you want to participate or make a comment, please raise your hand or write in the
general channel chat.
✓ 80% percent of attendance. (2 absences per period)
✓ Be forgiving and patient. Some people really struggle with the use of technology, written
and/or oral communication.
✓ Stay on mute when you’re not talking.
✓ Send a private chat message to me if you have an emergency and/or if it’s really
necessary to leave the class.
✓ Participation in class is important, required participation is taken into account, it’s also
good to contribute to the class and help classmates orally and in the chat.
✓ It’s important to turn in assignments on time in order to get the 100% of the points.
✓ The professor is not supposed to use the first language during the class, that is why
students must do their best not to do so.
