SIMPLE PAST

o Verb TO BE: Was – Were

o Regular Verbs
o Irregular Verbs

VERB TO BE:

Habíamos visto que, en presente, el verbo TO BE representaba

los verbos SER y ESTAR en español. En ingles, cuando los
conjugamos, se transformaban en AM, IS or ARE.
WAS.
ahora sera WERE.

Affirmative form:

- I was tired last night.

- The hotel was comfortable.

- They were at the cinema yesterday.

Negative form: was + not = wasn’t or were + not = weren’t

- I wasn’t in the garden yesterday.

- He wasn’t a good holidays.

- There weren’t in the best hotel.

Interrogative form: Auxiliary = was or were (depending of the person)

- Was Ann at home last night?

- Were they at home yesterday?

REGULAR VERBS:
Affirmative form:
Veamos algunos
ejemplos:

- I played the piano yesterday.

- He stayed at home last night.

- It rained too much last week.

Negative form:

- I didn’t play the piano yesterday.

- He didn’t stay at home last night.

- It didn’t rain too much last week.

Interrogative form:

IRREGULAR VERBS:
Example: Present: build Past: built
Present: Find Past: found
Present: Get Past: Got

Example: Yesterday, I found a wallet in the street. (Present: find)

I met Susan last night. (Present: meet)

We went to the cinema last week. (Present: go)

Estos ejemplos reflejan la forma afirmativa.

Negative form:
presente simple.

- They didn’t go to the cinema last week.

- I didn’t meet Susan last night.

Interrogative form:
