Ejercicio 03
Revisar detalladamente su diccionario castellano-inglés y ubicar:
a. Definición de palabras: Una palabra es un sonido del habla o una combinación de sonidos,
o su representación por escrito, que simboliza y comunica un significado y puede consistir
en un solo morfema o una combinación de morfemas.
b. -Reglas de pronunciación:
-Para la mayoría de las palabras con oo, pronunciamos esto como /uː/
Sin embargo, cuando oo es seguido por una k, toma un sonido /ʊ/ acortado
• Si la raíz de la palabra tiene dos consonantes idénticas, estas consonantes están separadas.

• Cuando la palabra termina en una consonante doble, estas no deben separarse sino que la
división se hace antes del sufijo. ( Telling Tell-ing)
Some words are divided by syllables according to the pronunciation they have.

If the root of the word has two identical consonants, these consonants are separated.

When the word ends in a double consonant, these should not be separated but the
division is done before the suffix. ( Telling Tell-ing)
If the suffix has a silent vowel, it should not be split. (Passed)
d. Formas y funciones de las palabras: Las palabras tienen nueve funciones dentro de una
oración; Artículo, pronombre, sustantivo, adjetivo, verbo, adverbio, conjunción,
preposición e interjección.
Forms and functions of words: Words have nine functions inside a sentence; Article,
pronoun, noun, adjectiv, verb, adverb, conjunction, preposition and interjection.
e. Sinónimos y antónimos:
Sinónimo: Es una palabra morfema, o frase que significa igual o casi igual que otra
palabra.
Antónimos: Son palabras que tienen significados opuestos, inversos entre sí.
Synonym: It is a morpheme word, or phrase that means equal or almost the same as
another word.
Antonyms: Are words that have opposite, inverse or meaing each other.
f. Etimología de las palabras: La mayoría de las raíces de las palabras en inglés provienen
del griego y el latín.
Word etymology: Most of the roots of English words come from Greek and Latin.
g. Significado de frases idiomáticas: Son frases que tienen un significado difícil o imposible
de deducir, aunque estén formadas por palabras de las que conocemos el significado.
Meaning of idiomatic phrases: They are phrases that have a meaning that is difficult or
impossible to deduce, although they are made up of words of which we know the meaning.
h. Uso de palabras:
Formales: Las utilizamos al momento de escribir algo importante y con respeto.
Arcaica: Significado de algo muy antiguo.
Poéticas: Palabras utilizadas en frases poéticas.
Popular: Palabras muy conocidas o usadas.
Use of words:
Formal: We use them when writing something important and with respect
Archaic: Meaning of something very old
Poetic: Words used in poetic phrases
Popular: Well-known or used words.
j. Cuadros, mapas y tablas: Sirven para estructurar los tiempos, diferenciarlos y aprender de
k. Abreviaturas: Una abreviatura es la forma corta de una sola palabra o una frase de varias
palabras y a menudo se crea eliminando ciertas letras.
l. Reglas de:
Deletreo: La regla principal es prender las letras y sonidos del alfabeto en inglés.

Rules of:
Spelling: The main rule is to turn on the letters and sounds of the alphabet in English.
Punctuation: Point, comma, semicolon., Two points, Apostrophe (Used for contractions),
Exclamation mark, and question mark (the question mark in English always goes at the end
of questions).
Capitalization:
The first word of a sentence is always capitalized.
Own names.
The personal pronoun "I", but not the other pronouns.

Utilizar técnicas de lectura y estratégias de interpretación de textos:
The liver is the largest gland in the body that weighs 2 Kg. It is located on the right
side of the body, level to the stomach. It is flat in shape and soft in texture, with a very
large blood supply . It has more functions than any other organ in the body. So far, more
than 500 functions have been identified and there are certainly many others undiscovered.

Bone is one of the most complex and most versatile all tissues. It serves as a
framework, giving form to the body, protecting the vital organs and bearing weight and
strain.
The outer surface of all bone is made up of a dense, ivory like substance known as
compact bone. It is interlaced with numerous small canals that provide passage-ways for
the nerves and blood vessels that nourish it. Long bones consist entirely of a hollow shaft of
compact bone; the central cavity is filled with fatty tissue called bone marrow. Some cases
there is an outer covering of compact bone and inside this outer covering a porous, trellis
like structure called cancellous bone.
