OBJETIVO APRENDIZAJE GUÍA:

SECCIÓN 1
CONDICIONAL DOS

La teoría
Al construirlo usamos el pasado simple:

If + sujeto + pasado simple + sujeto + would + infinitivo (sin to)

If I were a rich man, I would buy a magic pill to learn English in a week.

Aunque algunos nativos dicen If I was…, ¡tú no! Está mal. Es como decir haiga en español. Lo correcto es usar
siempre were para todas las personas gramaticales con el verbo to be en estos casos. Aquí, como en el primer condicional,
tampoco es necesario empezar con if; la frase del ejemplo se podría dar vuelta y también podría ser I would buy a magic
pill to learn English in a week if I were a rich man.

La práctica
Empezamos con frases que contienen were. Ten cuidado de no decir /güer/, sino /uée/. Repite en voz alta estas frases, o
estarás perdiendo el tiempo.

Wouldn’t se pronuncia /uúdnt/, en un solo golpe de voz y sin ningún sonido de g.

No olvides invertir el would y el sujeto, que, si no, ¡no es una pregunta!

Clave de pronunciación

La pronunciación de would es una gran cruz para muchos alumnos, pero hay que intentarlo. Tienes dos opciones
para decirlo bien: contrae siempre que sea posible (I’d /áid/, you’d /iúd/, etc.), o imita a un búho: /uuuud/. ¡Que no suene
a /guuud/ ni /guuuld/!

(Turistic information)

Llanquihue Lake
(Puerto Varas Municipality)

It is the second largets fresh water lake in Chile. Of glacial origin, with 877 km2 (338 miles2). Its name in
Mapudungun language means “Deep place”. There is a road that allows you to completely surround the lake
where you can visit small towns like Ensenada, Las Cascadas, Puerto Octay and Frutillar. Then there are two
options, the first is to return to Puerto Varas by route 5 or is the alternative to continue from Frutillar by the route
v-305, always bordering the lake. You’d arrive in the city Llanquihue and from there get back to Puerto Varas. Each
of these wonderful places has historical colonial architecture, beautiful beaches, and excellent cafes and
restaurants.
