Tiempo Presente Simple

El tiempo presente simple describe una acción que ocurre todos los días o todo el tiempo.
En el tiempo presente simple todos los verbos tienen las mismas formas a excepción de la
tercera persona singular.

I work We work
You work You work
He works
She works They work
It works

A la mayoría de los verbos en la tercera persona singular se le agrega una “s”, se le agrega “es”
en ves de “s” en los siguientes casos:

1) Cuando el verbo termina con “o”:

Ej.: Go – Goes Do – Does

2) Cuando el verbo termina con “s”, “z”, “ch”, “sh” y “x”:

Ej.:Reach – Reaches Wash – Washes Fix – Fixes

3) Cuando el verbo termina con “y” y sea precedido por una consonante, se cambia la “y” por
“i” y se le agrega “es”:

Ej.:Study – Studies Cry – Cries Marry – Marries

Completar las siguientes oraciones con el verbo entre paréntesis en el tiempo presente simple:

Adjetivos Posesivos

Los adjetivos posesivos expresan una tendencia y significado similar:

Completar las siguientes oraciones con el adjetivo posesivo:

Pronombres Posesivos

Cuando un nombre no termina con “s” se crea el posesivo singular y a veces el posesivo plural
añadiendo una “s” con apostrofe.

The boy hat. The boy’s hat.


The girl doll. The girl’s doll.
The lady purse. The lady’s purse.
The children toys. The children’s toys.

Cuando un nombre termina con “s” se crea el posesivo singular al añadir una “s” con apostrofe, y
para crear el posesivo plural solamente se le agrega un apostrofe.

The boss chair. The boss’s chair.


Charles book. Charles’s book.
The ladies purses. The ladies’ purses.
The boys hats. The boys’ hats.

Hay que notar que el posesivo es usado aun cuando el nombre modificado no es mencionado.

Sandra goes to Jonathan’s. I have an appointment at the doctor’s.

Colocar el apostrofe en el lugar correspondiente en las siguientes oraciones:


1) Mrs. Reagan car is outside. _______ Mrs. Reagan’s car is outside ________
2) Dr. Smith secretary is Mexican. _____ Dr. Smith’s secretary is Mexican._______
3) Lincoln Birthday is February 12. ____ Lincoln’s Birthday is February 12._____

There is / There are

There is es usado con nombres singulares y there are con nombres plurales.

There is a book on the table. There are books on the table.


There is a man in the room. There are several men in the room.

Completar las siguientes oraciones con there is y there are:

There is / There are en negativo e interrogativo.

Se crea el negativo de there is y there are colocando “not” después del verbo, la forma contraída
de “isn’t” y “aren’t” son generalmente utilizadas. Se crea el interrogativo de there is y there are
colocando el verbo antes de “there”.

There is a pencil in my bag. There isn’t a pencil in my bag.


Is there a pencil in my bag?
There are two employees absent today. There aren’t two employees absent today.
Are there two employees absent today?

Cambiar las siguientes oraciones a negativo:


1) There is a flag at the top of the building.
There isn’t a flag at the top of the building

2) There are two lamps in each bed.


There aren’t two lamps in each bed

3) There is a big parade today.


There isn’t a big parade today

Cambiar las oraciones anteriores a interrogativo:

This / That / These / Those

This se utiliza para indicar que algo está cerca, that se utiliza para indicar que algo está a una
distancia.

This book is in my hand. That book is on the table.

El plural de this es these y el plural de that es those.

These books are in my hand. Those books are on the table.

Cambiar las siguientes oraciones de singular a plural:


1) This exercise is easy. _______ These exercise are easy. _________
2) That book is out of date. ________ Those book are out of date ________.
3) This is my chair. ________ These are my chairs. __________.
4) That is Henry’s pen. _______ Those are Henry’s pent ________________.

Pronombres Objetivos

Los pronombres objetivos son utilizados como objetivos directos e indirectos y de preposición

She knows me well. (Obj. Directo)


We give her our homework every day. (Obj. Indirecto)
They give it to us. (Obj. de Preposición)

Sustituir el pronombre objetivo correcto por la o las palabras subrayadas:


1) I see Mr. Park during coffee break every morning.
2) I sit near Grace and Francis during the lessons.
3) All the boys like Janice very much.
4) He always goes to the movies with his parents.
5) I know both boys very well.
6) Frank always waits for Albert and me after work.

Tiempo Presente Simple Negativo e Interrogativo

Se crea el negativo de los verbos de acción en el tiempo presente simple colocando “Do Not
(Don’t ) o Does Not (Doesn’t) antes del verbo y cambiando el verbo a su forma simple si es
necesario. Se crea el interrogativo de los verbos de acción en el tiempo presente simple
colocando Do o Does antes del sujeto y cambiando el verbo a su forma simple si es necesario.
Esta condición se debe cumplir aun cuando el interrogativa comience con palabras de preguntas
tales como: How, What, When, Where y Why.

Jack knows Helen from school. Jack doesn’t know Helen from School.
Does Jack know Helen from School?

Cambiar las siguientes oraciones a negativo:


1) I work in the tenth floor.
2) Ella likes to study English.
3) You speak English very well.
4) The plane leaves at ten o’clock.
5) He Knows everyone in the office.
