1 PRESENT SIMPLE - AFFIRMATIVE AND NEGATIVE FORM / PRESEN-

TE SIMPLE - FORMA AFIRMATIVA Y NEGATIVA
En este módulo has podido conocer vocabulario relacionado con medios de transporte y algunos
enunciados para expresar cómo nos movilizamos de un lugar a otro, ya sea dentro o fuera de la
ciudad. Ahora, vamos a ver cómo se elaboran enunciados en la forma afirmativa y negativa en
presente simple.

Repasemos y analicemos el siguiente cuadro:

1.1. AFFIRMATIVE FORM

El presente simple nos ayuda a describir rutinas

y actividades.

Como puedes ver, cada vez que utilizamos los pronombres he, she, it, el verbo sufre una
modificación. Esto se debe a las reglas gramaticales que aprenderemos a continuación. No
te preocupes si no conoces algunos verbos, ya que los estudiaremos en contexto en los
siguientes módulos

1.2. NEGATIVE FORM

Luego de analizar qué ocurre en la forma afirmativa, veamos el siguiente cuadro que
describe cómo se forman los enunciados negativos en el presente simple:

Así vemos que:

Para el primer grupo de pronombres (I, you, we, they), se utiliza el verbo auxiliar do + not
(negativo) o la contracción don’t.

Para el segundo grupo de pronombres (he, she, it), se utiliza el verbo auxiliar does + not
(negativo) o la contracción doesn’t.

2 QUESTIONS WITH ‘WHEN’ AND “WHAT TIME” / PREGUNTAS CON

‘CUÁNDO’ Y “QUÉ HORA”
Las palabras interrogativas ‘When’ y “What time” se utilizan para preguntas acerca de la hora.
Veamos algunos ejemplos:

A: What time is it? A: What time is it?

B: It’s half past five. B: It’s five to four.

Cuando queremos hacer preguntas específicas relacionadas con la hora en la que realizamos
nuestras actividades, la respuesta varía, tal como se muestra a continuación:

A: What time do you have classes? A: What time do you ride a bike to
B: I have classes at half past five. the university?
B: I ride a bike at five to four.

3 CONCLUSIONS / CONCLUSIONES

For affirmative sentences in present simple, conjugate the verb in third person (he, she, it)
and add -s, -es, or -ies.

For negative sentences in present simple, use doesn’t or don’t.

Use “What time” or ‘When’ to make questions about time.
