recomendaciones/ El prerrequisito para la realización de este curso es un buen nivel de lectura en inglés
Prerequisites para poder enfrentarse a textos complejos de tipo literario o crítico. Se requiere
igualmente un nivel alto de redacción en inglés, consistente en la capacidad para
formular ideas con claridad y cierta complejidad y plasmarlas en argumentos
convincentes bien estructurados.

Prerequisites:
A good reading level in English so as to be able to deal with complex literary or scholarly
texts. Likewise, a high writing level in English, consisting in the ability to formulate ideas
with clarity and certain complexity and to organize them into convincing and well-
structured arguments, is required

Objetivos / Consolidar los siguientes aspectos: (a) el conocimiento de los principales períodos,

acerca de los textos objeto de estudio; (c) la capacidad de búsqueda, lectura y uso crítico

Consolidating the following aspects: (a) the knowledge of the major periods, authors,
works, and themes of English literature achieved in previous years; (b) the acquisition of
skills in the formation and expression of well-based critical judgments about the study
texts; (c) the ability to research, read, and make a critical use of secondary sources.

Métodos docentes/ Desde un punto de vista metodológico, este curso capacita al alumno para adquirir sus
Teaching methods propios juicios estéticos a través del análisis del texto. Cada tema de la programación
incluye:

A. Una presentación esquemática del contenido de la lección, que el alumno podrá

utilizar a modo de ‘guía’ de sus lecturas.

B. Una serie de lecturas seleccionadas que el alumno realizará individualmente. Estas

 suponen el necesario contacto con las fuentes primarias así como con las convenciones
propias del ensayo académico, que le resultarán imprescindibles cuando tenga que
realizar los trabajos con los que será evaluado.

C. Actividades controladas que pueden ser realizadas siempre en menos de una hora.
Estos ejercicios de análisis permiten ilustrar durante la clase algunas de las cuestiones
planteadas en la exposición inicial. 

From a methodological point of view, this course enables students to acquire their own
aesthetic judgments through the analysis of texts. Each unit from the syllabus includes:

A. An outline of the contents of the unit, which the student will be able to use as a ‘guide’
for their readings.

B. A series of selected readings to be tackled individually by the student. These involve

the necessary contact with the primary sources, as well as with the conventions of the
academic essay, which will be essential for the assignments by means of which the
student will be assessed.

C. Controlled activities to be completed in less than an hour. These analysis tasks enable
for the illustration in class of some of the aspects introduced in the initial presentation.

-Participación en discusiones críticas y otras actividades en clase
-Superación de exámenes.
-Realización de ensayos críticos sobre los textos incluidos en el programa.
-Participación en exposiciones orales en clase.

(b) Procedimientos de evaluación/Sistema

La calificación final se obtendrá de la realización de dos pruebas parciales (eliminatorias)
y un examen final (en caso de no haber superado las pruebas parciales). Las actividades
complementarias durante el curso se tendrán en cuenta para informar en sentido
positivo (nunca negativo) las calificaciones obtenidas en las pruebas formales.
