Units 1 6 Review
Querido alumno, el trabajo siguiente deberá estar terminado para el día 20 de Abril y
deberá ser entregado a la dirección del campus. Sin embargo las actividades de la
plataforma de Richmond serán revisadas antes, a más tardar 30 de Marzo.
Lee cuidadosamente las instrucciones:
1. El documento marca las fechas de cuando deben de hacer los ejercicios y es así
como los irán marcando en su cuaderno.
2. En los días 17, 18 y 19 de marzo se marca VOCABULARY esto deberá ser copiado
en el cuaderno de Vocabulary, sin embargo, si su cuaderno se quedó en la escuela
deberán copiar el vocabulario con fonema, colocación y ejemplo en una hoja blanca para
después solamente anexar las hojas en el cuaderno correspondiente.
3. Los demás ejercicios (Saint Patrick’s day, ejercicios de Gramar, Vocabulary,
Spelling, etc.) serán impresos, contestados y estas hojas las pegarán en el cuaderno de
HOMEWORK.
4. No olvides que los trabajos deben tener fecha, valor y lema. Realiza tu trabajo con
limpieza y con letra legible y entendible.
5. Como fecha límite, tienen el día 1 de abril para contestar la actividades pendientes
de la unidad 6 de la plataforma Richmond. En caso de tener actividades pendientes de
realizar, este es el momento adecuado para contestarlas. Las unidades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, y 6
deberán estar al 100%.
6. Recuerden que para mejorar nuestras habilidades del idioma y repasar los temas
vistos en clase, también pueden contestar las actividades de la plataforma o contestar el
libro de Practice Book que también está en la
plataforma Richmond.
7. ¡Hagamos una competencia! Durante
estos días de trabajo deberán jugar en la
plataforma, el alumno que consiga más
monedas será el ganador y por ende obtendrá
un premio. Recuerda que el máximo de puntos

cuaderno de HOMEWORK y contestadas. Este será el único cuaderno que entregarán a
dirección. El vocabulario se copiará en el cuaderno de VOCABULARY y esto se revisará
regresando a clases.

LESSON 8 – NON-DEFINING RELATIVE CL AUSES
1. Trace (n) /treɪs/ to find someone or something that was lost. There are traces that Olivia has
been home, but she isn't here now.
2. Fiber (n) /ˈfaɪ.bɚ/ a substance in certain foods, such as fruit, vegetables, and brown bread,
that helps the contents of the bowels to pass through the body easily. Cotton fibers can be turned
into cloth.
3. Toxicology (n) /ˌtɑːk.sɪˈkɑː.lə.dʒi/ the scientific study of the characteristics and effects of
poisons. Do you know what toxicology is?
4. Arson (n) /ˈɑːr.sən/ the crime of intentionally starting a fire in order to damage or destroy
something, especially a building. Police investigating the blaze haven't ruled out arson.
5. Focus (v) /ˈfoʊ.kəs/ to move a device on the lens so that you can see a clear picture. He
adjusted the slide projector to focus the image.
6. Brief (adj) /briːf/ lasting only a short time or containing few words. My consultation with the
doctor was very brief.
7. Meticulous (adj) /məˈtɪk.jə.ləs/ approving very careful and with great attention to every detail.
The meticulous surgeon never made a mistake.
8. Risky (adj) /ˈrɪs.ki/ involving the possibility of something bad happening. Ben performed the
risky stunt perfectly.
LESSON 9 – DETERMINERS
1- Surveillance (n) /sɚˈveɪ.ləns/ the careful watching of a person or place, especially by the
police or army. The spy's surveillance of the politician revealed his secret activities.
2- Stranger (n) /ˈstreɪn.dʒɚ/ someone you do not know. The man at the door was a stranger.
LESSON 10 – PRONUNCI ATION
1. Stripe (n) /straɪp/ a strip on the surface of something that is a different color from the
surrounding surface. The curtains were brown with green stripes.
2. Scrape (n) /skreɪp/ a slight injury caused by having your skin rubbed against something
rough. Anne fell off her bike and has a scrape on her elbow.
3. Screw (n) /skruː/ metal object. Screws have a better holding power than nails.
4. Scroll (n) /skroʊl/ a long roll of paper or similar material with usually official writing on it. The
mayor unrolled the scroll and read out its contents to the assembled crowd.
5. String (n) /strɪŋ/ rope. Carl tied the parcel up with string.

LESSON 10
6. Scrapbook (n) /ˈskræp.bʊk/ a book with empty pages where you can stick newspaper
articles, pictures, etc. that you have collected and want to keep. I made a scrapbook of my time at
college.
7. Disguise (n) /dɪsˈɡaɪz/ something that someone wears to hide their true appearance. Carol's
disguise was so good that no one recognized her at all.
8. Break into (v) /breɪk/ to suddenly begin to do something. Thieves broke into the house and
stole several items of jewelry.
9. Scram (v) /skræm/ to go away quickly. He wanted to join in, but the older boys told him to
scram.
10. Scratch (v) /skrætʃ/ to cut or damage a surface or your skin slightly with or on something
sharp or rough. Brian fell off a ladder into a rose bush and he's covered in scratches.
11. Twisted (adj) /ˈtwɪs.tɪd/ bent that the original shape is changed or destroyed. Adam spent
ages trying to straighten the twisted phone cord.
12. Pack of lies (expression) a false story, account, etc. His statement to the Police was a pack of
lies.
LESSON 11 – DOUBLE TROUBLE
1. Owner (n) /ˈoʊ.nɚ/ someone who owns something. Who is the owner of that car?
2. Artwork (n) /ˈɑːrt.wɝːk/ the pieces of art, such as drawings and photographs, that are used in
books, newspapers, and magazines. The artworks in the office are all by a local artist.
3. Frame (n) /freɪm/ a border that surrounds and supports a picture, door, or window. We need a
large frame to put this photo in.
4. Downfall (n) /ˈdɑʊnˌfɔl/ something that causes the destruction of a person, organization, or
government and that causes a loss of power, money, or health. It was painful for all his supporters
to see his downfall.
5. Bugle (n) /ˈbjuː.ɡəl/ a musical instrument like a simple trumpet, used especially in the army. A
bugle is smaller than a trumpet.
6. Portrait (n) /ˈpɔːr.trɪt/ a painting, photograph, drawing, etc. of a person or, less commonly, of a
group of people. Lucian Freud painted a portrait of Queen Elizabeth.
7. Crossbow (n) /ˈkrɑːs.boʊ/ a weapon, used especially in the past, that shoots a short arrow
with great force. The army had several weapons, such as crossbows and catapults.
8. Grounds (n) /ɡrɑʊndz/ land that surrounds a building. During the search, we need to cover all
the grounds.

LESSON 11
9. Cut up (phrasal verb) /kʌt/ to behave in a very active and silly way in order to make people
laugh. He's such a cut-up, you can't take anything he says seriously.
10. Stolen (adj) /ˈstoʊ·lən/ an object that was taken from his or her owner. There was little chance
of recovering their stolen items.
11. Strangely (adv) /ˈstreɪndʒ.li/ in a way that is unusual, unexpected, or difficult to understand.
She's been acting strangely.
12. Trick (n) /trɪk/ an action that is intended to deceive, either as a way of cheating someone, or
as a joke or form of entertainment. The kids were delighted by the magician's tricks.
13. Vault (n) /vɑːlt/ arch. The ceiling vaults were very attractive.
14. Safe (n) /seɪf/ a strong box or cupboard with special locks where valuable things, especially
money or jewels, are kept. The businessman kept his money in a safe.
15. Revenge (n) /rɪˈvendʒ/ harm done to someone as a punishment for harm that they have done
to someone else. John's revenge was to sabotage Tom's computers so that he lost all his files.
16. Trick (v) /trɪk/ to deceive someone, often as a part of a plan. I didn't want to buy the ticket -- I
was tricked!
17. Turn out (phrasal verb) /tɝːn/ to happen in a way or to have a particular result, especially an
unexpected one. The forecast is good, but it is too soon to say how it will turn out.
18. Unknown (adj) /ʌnˈnoʊn/ not known or familiar. Many of the facts of this case are unknown.
19. Faulty (adj) /ˈfɑːl.t̬ i/ A faulty machine or device is not perfectly made or does not work correctly.
Shauna's car had a faulty oil filter.
20. Humiliating (adj) /hjuˈmɪl·iˌeɪt̬ ·ɪŋ/ to make you feel ashamed or lose respect for yourself. The
experience was so humiliating.

1. Asleep (adj) /əˈsliːp/ sleeping or not awake. Evan didn't hear the announcement because he
was asleep.
