In effect, the student tries to rationalize everything surrounding the murder. And,
beyond challenging himself to prove that he is a man of action, who is not
prevented from committing a despicable act by vain prejudices if it can lead him
to a higher destiny, he seeks to treat crime from a scientific point of view,
meticulously planning each step to be taken in order to avoid making "human"
mistakes. However, Raskolnikov does not count on the horror of the moment of
the crime, nor does he calculate the small incidents with which a troubled mood
is unable to cope with coldness. That way things don't happen the way he
intends.
Having committed the crime, Raskolnikov suffers no remorse for having taken a
human life. For him, his victim is still an insect that is not worth living and whose
elimination favours the community. His torment comes from the certainty of
knowing that he is not the man capable of committing a vile act and using him
as a crossbar to advance his ascent. Suddenly he understands that his crime
separates him forever from the rest of men, whom he despises, but among
whom he has to live. Because, it's been proven, he's made of the same dough
as them. A spiral of confused feelings will take away the spirit of the young man
who will fight against himself and end up surrendering to the certainty that he
needs to atone for his guilt in order to feel human again.
Dostoyevsky knows how no one can portray the struggle of a man who was the
fruit (or victim) of his time, deeply complex and human. Challenged, defeated,
defeated, proud or dejected, perpetually immersed in doubt and dissatisfaction,
Raskolnikov is a round, perfect, unique character. Accompanied by a gallery of
well-drawn characters who support him, highlighting his contradictions and
helping to lead a disturbing story, he stars in one of the best novels ever written.
Useless pleasures that feed us every day and that in turn we consider life, but
that is not life.
This is very important, since man has always been dominated by the
consciousness, in most cases he acts in a rational or irrational way according to
his thinking, helped by his subconscious extremes.
But not everything is bad, on the contrary; by referring to evil we prove God's
love. Evil exists because we are free people, because God created us with the
right to exercise freedom, therefore we are free in doing evil, if it did not exist we
would fall into a state of imprisonment and we would not be able to do what we
wanted and we would not be able to think about it.
We must go through obstacles that will often make us fall, but even if we do,
why not get up, why not stay there, completely down? Everyone has a destiny,
a future, and within it, even our own mind can act against us, it will make us
make mistakes, go the wrong way, more than once, and that is something that
we must all take into account.
But there is something much stronger and more important than these falls, and
it is the moment when we get up, when we recover, even when we accept that
our actions were not the best and yet we are willing to apologize and also
correct them; at the end of the day that is what makes us human beings, to
make mistakes and at the same time learn from our own mistakes, so as not to
make them again.
We must face with courage and dignity the mistakes we make, in pretending to
be what we are not and in committing crimes, in order to have a better quality of
life, and to be able to realize our dreams.
The conscience tortures us day and night and this is what led the protagonist to
confess his crime to his friend Sonia. and surrender to justice and not allow
another man who had nothing to do with the crime of lending money to be
harmed.
Raskolnikov wanted was the welfare of people who had no resources and could
help them, not allow it to be what other people wanted to do.
