Abstract
In laboratory practice, it was possible to verify the Hess law by the data
obtained from the dissolution heat measurement of the solid NaOH (Q1), the
heat neutralization of the reaction between solutions of HCl and NaOH (Q2) and
The neutralization heat between a solution of HCl and solid NaOH (Q3).
The calorimetry technique was used by means of the construction of a
calorimeter consisting of a single-vessel, which functioned as an insulation
material and in which different reactions occurred within it.
The temperature was determined with a thermometer which was inserted in
the lid of the icebox, from which it was possible to obtain the different
temperature changes
In thermodynamics, Hess's law, proposed by Germain Henri Hess in 1840
states: "If a series of reagents react to give a series of products, the heat of
reaction released or absorbed is independent of whether the reaction is carried
out in One, two or more steps'.
