bicarbonato
has encontrado.
sustancias distintas llamadas productos.
Materials:
A small plastic bottle.
2 cuchadaditas bicarbonate.
A quarter cup of vinegar.
A tray to contain the lava.
coloring, if you want.
Water.
funnel if the bottle has a very narrow mouth.
To recreate the volcano and make it relist, we use homemade dough and some
stones and branches. You can also do paper mache or just use earth or sand.
Procedure:
Fill the bottle with water to just over half.
Add 2 teaspoons of baking soda and food coloring that you like.
Close the bottle cap and put it in the tray to start decorating.
Once the decoration, remove the cap and get ready for the great eruption.
Take a quarter cup of vinegar and watch the lava begins to emerge from the
volcano.
Fill the water bottle and repeat the eruption with different amounts of vinegar
and baking soda.
Home kneading dough. My kids like any child, love to get their hands dirty.
They experimented with different amounts of vinegar, water and baking and in the
end everyone had the ideal recipe. They did not stop until all the bottle of vinegar.
What enthusiasm! And that this experiment had already done before.
One liter of vinegar after. In this photo one understands why the tray is so
necessary. And the higher the better.
What happen?
Vinegar is an acid and a base sodium bicarbonate. (Click here to learn more about
acids and bases). By adding vinegar with baking it takes place a chemical acidbase reaction. A chemical reaction is the process by which substances, reagents,
are transformed into other substances called products. Our reagents are vinegar
and sodium bicarbonate to give as product water, sodium acetate (which is a salt)
and carbon (a gas) emissions.
Carbon dioxide, CO2, is responsible for the bubbles that simulate volcanic eruption
forming gas. The chemical reaction ends when the reagents or at least one
consumed.
Whenever an acid reacts with bicarbonate products are salt, water and carbon
dioxide. In these experiments we reactions of this type:
