 LOS SUPERLATIVOS – SUPERLATIVES

Son simplemente adjetivos como alto (tall) y pequeño (small) que se expresan en su grado máximo.

Ejemplo: la más alta (the tallest) y el más pequeño (the smallest).

Siempre expresan su grado máximo con respecto a un grupo de cosas, personas, la familia,
animales, lugares, los compañeros de trabajo, los estudiantes de un colegio, etc. Siempre en grupos
de 3 ó más personas o elementos a comparar.

Ejemplo:
 Annie is the tallest in the family. = Annie es la más alta de la familia.
 REGLAS PARA FORMAR EL
SUPERLATIVO Existen 2 características:
Superlativos cortos
A los adjetivos superlativos cortos de una sola
sílaba se les agrega “-est” al final.
Ejemplo:
Tall (alto): The tallest (la más alta)
 My granddaughter is the tallest.
(Mi nieta es la más alta)
New (Nuevo): the newest (la más nueva)
 My house is the newest in the street.
(Mi casa es la más nueva de la calle).
a) Si el adjetivo de una sílaba termina en consonante +, vocal
+ consonante como: big (grande) o fat (gordo), debemos
escribir dos veces la última consonante:
The fattest (el más gordo)
The biggest (el más grande)
Ejemplo:
That’s the biggest house in the neighborhood.
Esa es la casa más grande del vecindario.
b) Si el adjetivo tiene una sola sílaba y termina en –E como:
large (grande) o brave (valiente), debemos agregar solamente
–st al final del adjetivo.
Ejemplo:
They are the bravest soldiers in the army.
Ellos son los soldados más valientes del ejército.

SUPERLATIVO
Superlativos largos
Los adjetivos superlativos largos de más de tres sílabas, y
algunos de dos sílabas, utilizan la fórmula: “most” + adjetivo.
Ejemplo:
 This is the most important topic right now.
Este es el tema mas importante ahora mismo

 Peter is the most responsible student.

Peter es el estudiante más responsable.
 REGLAS PARA FORMAR EL
SUPERLATIVO
Si el adjetivo termina en –y
Cuando el adjetivo termina en -y, debes sustituirla por
-i, y agregar “-est“.
-Happy (feliz): The happiest (él más feliz)
-Funny (gracioso): The funniest (la más graciosa)
Ejemplos:
 We are the happiest children in the world.
Somos los niños más felices del mundo.
 He’s the funniest comedian in town.
Es el comediante más divertido de la ciudad.
Adjetivos superlativos irregulares
Estos son algunos adjetivos con superlativo que no sigue
ninguna regla en específico.
Ejemplo:
a) Good: (bueno) – the best (el mejor)
 He is the best soccer player in history.
Él es el mejor jugador de fútbol de la historia.
b) Bad: (malo)– the worst (el peor)
 This is the worst pizza I have ever tried.
Esta es la peor pizza que he probado.
